Happy holidays from The Dandelion!

Looking to impress with some festive cocktails? Making your own rosemary syrup as shown here is an easy way to make your drink pop, especially with cranberry! Simply bring equal parts sugar and water (I use 2 or 3 cups of each) to a boil with a few sprigs of any herb of your choice, reduce to a simmer for five minutes, then bottle it up for a glamorous little addition to your party.

Mezcal is a funny little spirit. While tequila falls in the mezcal family, so few of us know what it is! Tequila is blue agave, typically steamed and distilled in metal; in contrast, mezcal can be many sorts of agave which would be initially cooked in earthen pits lined with wood and lava rocks, giving it a unique flavor.

Initially, I wasn't sure whether or not to include it on the menu; mezcal has a musk and smokey flavor that is either loved or disliked entirely. For this innocent-looking number, don't let the frothy pink color fool you-- it packs a punch! Pineapple, lime, honey, grenadine, and egg white lend their flavors to balance out this powerhouse. Are you daring enough to give it a go?
