PLYMOUTH, WE’VE PUT OUR PRIDE ON THE WALLS. 🏳️🌈🎨
Six local q***r artists. Six original commissions. One very proud Swallow.
There’s been plenty of conversation about art at The Swallow. Now we’d like these six artists to have your full attention.
Introducing GAY EYE: six brand new original artworks commissioned by The Swallow, now installed in our pub as part of Plymouth Art Weekender 2026.
We’ve backed local q***r talent with commissions and a home for their work at the heart of The Swallow. We’re absolutely thrilled with what they’ve created.
There’s tenderness in a pair of hands. Freedom in two swallows taking flight. A picnic on the Hoe. Familiar faces around the sundial. Plymouth landmarks with a glorious helping of drag. And the memory of walking through The Swallow’s doors for the first time in 1992.
Q***r love. Q***r joy. Q***r Plymouth. In full colour, on our walls.
Meet the artists: Nex Lizard, Chloe Baker, Lauren Rothery, Chloe Sargént, Paul Soren and Arrow.
These artists have brought their talent, imagination and stories into our pub. We want the whole city to see their work and know their names.
Come in. Take a proper look. Bring someone who loves Plymouth. Tell us which piece speaks to you, and share this so the artists’ work reaches far beyond Bretonside.
Our thanks to Sappho’s and Q***r District Collective for helping bring Gay Eye together, and to everyone who supported the project.
Six new reasons to look around. Every reason to feel proud.
