We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful community of regulars, as well as so many new visitors discovering our little pub — and we are extremely grateful for every one of you! ❤️

With that in mind, we have one little request… if you’re planning to eat with us, please book your table whenever you can.

Booking ahead really does help us. It allows Anne-Marie to plan the kitchen and make sure we have plenty of fresh ingredients available, and it helps the rest of our team prepare so that we can give you the friendly, relaxed service that The Stag is known for.

It also means your table is guaranteed. Being a traditionally small country pub, there are times when we simply can’t accommodate everyone who walks through the door — particularly on busy evenings and Sundays.

Of course, walk-ins will always be very welcome and we’ll always do our best to find you a table if we can. But if you know you’re coming, please give us a call and book ahead. It makes a huge difference to a little pub like ours.

🍻 WE'VE DONE IT AGAIN FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING! 🍻

We are incredibly proud to share that The Stag Inn has once again been recognised by The Telegraph as one of The Best Pubs in the UK 2026.

To be included for a second consecutive year is a tremendous honour and something we never take for granted.

When we took over The Stag in 2019, our aim was simple: to create a traditional country pub where everyone feels welcome, serving great food, well-kept b**r and offering genuine hospitality.

To receive national recognition for the second year running tells us we're on the right path.

This achievement belongs to so many people:
🍺 Our amazing team, who work tirelessly every day.
🍽️ Our loyal customers and local community, who continue to support us.
🚶 Our visitors from near and far who choose to spend time with us.

We are especially grateful to The Telegraph for recognising what makes The Stag so special, describing it as a "rustic throwback in a West Sussex hamlet" and highlighting the history and character that make this pub unique.

Running a small village pub isn't always easy, but moments like this make every early morning, every late night, and every busy service worthwhile.

Sadly it’s Keegan’s last shift with us here at The Stag on Wednesday 15th. He’s moving on to pastures new and I’m sure you’ll all join us in wishing him well.

He has been a pleasure to work alongside, always with a smile and time to chat.
