Some footage of nothing to do with brewing beer. The guys at Eight Arch Brewing Company sure do know how to take pretty slomo videos though..
Also... The beer looks to be pretty special...

Speaking of Manchester Beer and Cider Festival 2018...at the request of the organisers, Pig And Porter Ltd and I did a nice little collaboration just before the Christmas holidays to be released at the fest.
Sean Ayling made his way up to Peterborough and we brewed something a little different...a peppermint stout porter ("but there is no such thing as a stout porter"... well there is now). It has a huge whack of peppermint in the nose, drinks like a strong porter and finishes with a nice refreshing peppermint zing.
I am quite terrible with coming up with names for beer, but I was fortunate to have a friend of Sean's come up with something while he was telling her about the brew day.
May I present:
That's Mintal. An 8.3% Peppermint Stout Porter.

2018 is here (well, it has been for a couple of weeks now) which means that it is time to scream and shout about winter festivals. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll have beers at the Cambridge Winter Ales Festival, Manchester Beer and Cider Festival 2018, and I have a brewery bar at the Ely Beerfest. All three of these fests are really good and I would highly encourage you to attend one (or all) of them!

This came in the mail today.
My collaboration beer brewed with Three Blind Mice Brewery using Hot Numbers Coffee won gold in a category. I am very appreciative of all those that enjoyed the beer and felt like it was deserving of recognition.

Me being me, I didn't celebrate the award at all for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, I'm not a big awards person. There were over 400 beers at the festival and each and every one of them would have been someone's favorite. For me personally, I like to celebrate brewing as a whole...and anyone who had a beer at that festival should be celebrated as someone special.
Secondly, and probably the biggest reason why I never shouted about this award, was the category that it won. A stout (even called a stout in the tasting notes) won in the category for strong bitters. As I said before, I'm not a big awards person, but other people are... And I can't help but feel that I took recognition away from a beer that was best in it's class.

I am aware that tasting panels are not perfect. I am aware of how difficult it is to run one and get everything right. I'm not blaming anyone, or even complaining... But I needed to be able to release the information about the win without being fake.

I'm told that sometimes you have to play it safe and make a regular beer... I'm hoping that time never comes for me!
This new beer promises to be something really different but really tasty. The taste profile was designed by the great people at the Norwich Tap House and twisted into a crazy beer profile with a little help from me.
All of the various flavors from a cream tea (scone, jam, cream, and tea) can be found...and at 6.1%, you'll be quite relaxed after having one as well.
Look for this being released at the beginning of the Norwich Craft Beer Week and then the following week at the Peterborough Beer Festival (it'll also be on at the Stoneworks Bar, Peterborough the week of the beerfest).

NEW COLLAB ALERT!

One of the wildest beers planned for Norwich Craft Beer Week is the collaboration between Norwich Tap House and Bexar County Brewery.

A deconstructed cream tea! A sweet and dry beer that is malty and has tea and strawberry.

It's being launched 19th August at the Norwich Tap House and Lord Rosebery. Go and get some!

So this officially happened. Voted for by the public Very much appreciated.

Huge thank you to everyone who worked or played at the Cambridge Beer Festival this year. It was an absolute honor to have a brewery bar at this record breaking event.
Big thank you to the organisers for having faith in my brewery and enabling me to showcase what I can do to such a large crowd and for providing such good support staff (especially the cellar staff).
It's also important for me to mention, thank you to all of the people around me who helped me out so much. I couldn't have pulled it off without the guys from the Three Blind Mice Brewery helping me out before, during, and after the fest. Leanne and Co from Grain Brewery were always willing to help out when we were in the weeds... Service would have been much slower without them. And finally, without the help of Jay and Monica (who work at the stoneworks bar in Peterborough) and Adam who took time away from their real jobs to help me out, this could not have happened without your help and I am eternally grateful.
This year's fest has been incredible and I really can't wait to do it again next year!

Keep an eye out for this... Norwich beer week is shaping up to be an amazing event! It's great that there is finally an event celebrating "craft" in this area.

Adding to the brewery line up, very pleased to have threeblindmice, bakersdozen, bexarcounty and ampersand involved, with some one off brews on offer
