The Strathmore Bar closed down

03/04/2026

Well it's been a few weeks since the pub closed . I've never been so lost without something to do . Not defeated I plan on starting again with a venue closer to town with a bar and kitchen . It was a very hard decision to close the doors . The pub meant the world to me and still does I know it's only bricks and mortar but it feels like I'm grieving the loss of a loved one .. for those who supported me you know who you are I have loved every minute being able to provide you with dizzy fall down juice . cheers

Honest and from me before rumors start .the pub is now closed down for the foreseeable future. I loved this pub still do and I wanted to make it work . Rising costs , loss of the older generation and no help from the government has taken its toll on me and my family. My mental health has suffered and I need to get better . Thank you to all who did come in and support us .

See it's science come to the pub it's good for you

Scientists at Oxford University found that men who frequent the same local bar with a consistent group of friends tend to report greater life satisfaction, closer friendships, and even better health. It’s not about the booze — it’s about the belonging.

The research points to the power of regular, small-scale social interactions. Shared jokes, familiar faces, and routine conversations tap into something ancient in our wiring — a kind of modern-day tribal circle, where the flat-screen replaces the fire pit and connection replaces isolation. So when the bartender knows your order and your crew is waiting, it’s more than a night out — it’s good for your brain.
