Results from the 1st and 2nd XI matches this weekend!
A convincing win for the 1s who welcomed Garstang 2s on Saturday. Winning the toss Penrith chose to bowl with weather threatening to cut the day short. A superb display of opening bowling was just too strong and our opponents were bowled out for 57 after 14 overs. The only 2 bowlers used both claimed new season best figures with Sam Sharp and Thomas Kirk seeing excellent returns of 6/17 and 4/30 respectively.
In reply the opening pair of Sam Sharp and Ali Craig took to the attack from the start looking to get the job done before any chance of rain. Chasing down the total in just over 8 overs for the loss of no wickets meant a 10 wicket win and 12 points in the bag moving the 1s up to 2nd in the table just 1 point off the top spot.
The 2s travelled to Holme to play their 2s in the 3rd match of the 40 over comp. With rain threatening once again the match became a 20 over a side game. Skipper Chris Walker put Holme into bat and season best figures from Vikas Kumar helped restrict Holme to 112 from their 20 overs.
Over to the 2s reply and the opening pair got to work with Lachlan Price and Eddie Robson both striking at over 100. Eddie finishing up 42 not out lead the side to a very solid 8 wicket win and another maximum 5 points for what is becoming a very solid cup performance.
