📢 Important Notice:
TEMPORARY PUB CLOSURE

To all our valued customers, regulars, followers and friends, The New Inn will be temporarily closing starting today, Wednesday 7th October.

As many of you know from my previous updates, my youngest daughter Scarlet is currently recovering from major spinal surgery. To ensure I can be by her side to fully support her through her early recovery, the pub will be taking a short break. 🏥❤️

I expect to be closed for at least a week or so. Because the timeline depends entirely on how well Scarlet progresses over the coming days, I will confirm our exact reopening date, plans and the official November quiz date right here as soon as things become clearer.

Thank you all so much for your incredible kindness, lovely messages and ongoing understanding during this time.

❤️ A slightly late but massive thank you to everyone who joined us for the quiz on Sunday! 🧠🏆🍁

First, I want to apologise for the delay in getting this post out. As many of you know from my previous updates, my daughter Scarlet has been in hospital following her major spinal surgery and my focus has been entirely with her over the last few days. 🏥❤️ Despite the busy week, I couldn't let it go by without thanking you all for making our first Autumn Quiz such a cracking night. The pub was filled with brilliant laughs, proper old-fashioned banter, and so much warmth - and it was made even more special by having the lovely medical detection dog Kimi with Emily participating in the quiz with us! 🐕✨

** Just a quick note that I won't be OPEN until 5PM TODAY (SATURDAY) as I need to stay at the hospital a little later than planned. Thank you so much for your understanding 🙏

Here is a reminder of what’s happening over the next two days:

I am absolutely thrilled to finally tell you that The New Inn at Padbury has officially made it into the CAMRA Good B**r Guide 2027! 📖🎉

Some of you might remember my post from a couple of weeks back where I was bursting to share a little secret. I wasn’t allowed to share it with you until last Thursday, however with everything going on, it all just became a bit too much to post at the time. Thank you so much for your patience — I am so happy to finally share the news today!!

Being featured in the Guide is the ultimate stamp of quality for real ale. To be recognised by CAMRA once again is a massive honour and I am completely over the moon. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication behind the scenes to keep the cellar and b**r standards so high and I couldn't be prouder of our little pub.
Honestly, though? This isn’t just my win - it’s yours, too. I couldn't do what I do without you wonderful regulars and guests. Your laughs, your support and your shared love for a proper, quality pint are what make this pub so incredibly special. Please pop in and raise a glass with us to celebrate keeping our standards high and our b**r exceptional! 🍻

A quick update from The New Inn ❤️

To all our wonderful customers, regulars and
Followers …

I just wanted to share the good news that Scarlet’s surgery was a success today and so far doing well after an intense 8 hours in theatre today. I can't fault her consultants and surgical team, they were amazing. I have had to leave my baby tonight in the capable hands of the intensive care unit at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, yet she is in the best possible place. Thank you all so much for the incredible influx of love and kind wishes - it has meant the world to us as a family.

While she is resting and recovering in the hospital, I am heading back to work for a few days to keep busy. Here is the schedule for the coming week:

* Thursday 1st October to Friday 2nd October: We will be open as usual! Come and see us, I would love the distraction.
* Saturday 3rd October: Open as usual, plus we have the Baja Cantina food van here from 5.30pm - 8pm serving up delicious Mexican food! 🌮🇲🇽
* Sunday 4th October: Open as usual, plus our postponed quiz night is back on from 7pm. We'd love to see you all there.
* Wednesday 7th October: The New Inn will be temporarily closed until further notice so I can focus entirely on Scarlet’s recovery at home.

I will keep you all updated regarding a reopening date as soon as I possibly can. Thank you all so very much for your ongoing support, understanding and patience as I balance life going forward. Hope to see you soon! ☺️🍻🥂

❤️ An important update regarding this Sunday & our Quiz Night…

To all our wonderful regulars, quiz teams and friends, The New Inn will be closed all day this Sunday 27th September. Because of this, we are postponing our Autumn Quiz Night until next Sunday 4th October.

We know how much you look forward to your Sunday quiz and your weekend social and we promise to make next week’s kick-off extra special. Yaz will be raring to go behind the mic, the Scottish music round is locked and loaded and we will make sure it is a proper, welcoming night back together. 🧠🍻

🚨 Plot twist... 🚨

Absolute nightmare for Kavita - her Gurkha Streetfood van has unfortunately broken down & she won’t be able to make it tonight! 😭🛠️ We are sending her our love and hope she gets it sorted okay.

The culinary gods have failed us, however the pub gods are still smiling. The pub is still open, so please still come for a Friday night drink and a catch-up and you now have full permission to order your favorite takeaway right to the pub table. 🍕🥡🍻

Happy Friday! 🥳

We have a surprise last-minute pop-up this evening! Gurkha Streetfood will be at the pub from 5:00 to 8:00 PM cooking up authentic Nepalese street food🇳🇵🥟🥢🍛

Everything is made fresh from scratch—from hand-folded samosas and momos to wok-tossed noodles and authentic curries. It’s the perfect excuse to skip cooking, grab a drink and catch up after a long week.

A family update from The New Inn ❤️

To all you wonderful customers,regulars and followers…

This hasn’t been an easy post to write and I wanted to give you an important update regarding my youngest daughter, Scarlet. As many of you will remember from my post back in June, her major back operation had unfortunately been pushed back to an unconfirmed date. We have finally been given a new date and as her Mum it is an absolute priority being by her side to support her through the surgery and her early recovery.

Apologies this is so long-winded, however this situation is not straightforward. Recovery from this major surgery is estimated to be around 12 weeks, so please bear with me while I navigate life going forward.

Here is what is happening over the next couple of weeks:
* Today: Back at the hospital today, however the pub will be open as usual this evening from 5pm.
* Wednesday 30th September: The New Inn will be closed for the day and fingers crossed we will be open on Thursday 1st October at 5pm.
* Wednesday 7th October: The New Inn will be temporarily closing.

I expect to be closed from the 7th October for at least a week. Due to the intricacies of this operation which has already been cancelled twice before, our exact reopening date will depend entirely on the success of the surgery and how well Scarlet is progressing afterwards. I will be sure to keep you all updated on our page as soon as I know more.
