📣 WE ARE LOOKING FOR A POT WASH / KITCHEN ASSISTANT

We are looking for someone local to join our little team at The Old Pheasant in Glaston for around 12 hours a week, spread over 2–3 days it will be a mixture of evening week days and week ends.

The job is mainly pot washing, keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, and giving the chefs a hand with simple jobs when needed.

No experience is necessary, what matters most to us is finding someone who is reliable, hardworking and happy to muck in and learn.

✅ Around 12 hours per week
✅ 2–3 shifts
✅ Permanent, regular hours
✅ Friendly small team
✅ Ideal for students looking for a few hours each week.

Tomorrow night. Two years. And a very big thank you. ❤️

Tomorrow evening we will have The Bongo Rat Pack playing at The Old Pheasant from 6:30pm, helping us finish the summer with good music, good food and hopefully a pub full of familiar faces.

But tomorrow also means something much more personal to us.

It has been two years since we took on The Old Pheasant.

Two years of early mornings and very late nights. Two years of learning, changing things, getting things right, and occasionally getting things wrong. Two years of putting everything we have into keeping this little pub and inn alive and moving forward. We have learn so much.

And through all of it, you kept coming.

For a pint after work. A Sunday lunch. A birthday. A night away. A quick meal that turned into an evening at the bar.

Some of you have been with us almost from day one. Others have discovered us only recently. Some have recommended us to friends, left us lovely words, brought family back time and again, or simply stopped us to say, “Keep going" as well as giving us a chance to put things right.

You probably do not realise how much those little things have meant.

The Old Pheasant is not a big company. Behind the doors is a small team of people who care enormously about this place and about the people who walk through them.

So tomorrow is not really about celebrating us.

It is about saying thank you to all of you who have given The Old Pheasant a chance, supported a local business and helped us reach two years.

We genuinely we are grateful that you have done this with us. ❤️

So come and help us see out another summer together.

Two years at The Old Pheasant and one last Friday night of summer! 🎶☀️🍻

We are celebrating two brilliant years at The Old Pheasant with live music, great food, cold drinks and a proper end-of-summer evening.

Join us on Friday 28th August from 6:30pm, when The Bongo Rat Pack will be bringing the music to Glaston.

They have been making quite a name for themselves locally, including features in Rutland Living, and we can not wait to welcome them to the pub for another great evening.

Most importantly, this is our chance to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past two years, whether you have joined us for a meal, stopped by for a drink, enjoyed one of our events or recommended us to a friend.

There is something special about a Sunday.

For a little while, life seems to slow down. Phones are put away, families sit together, friends catch up, and conversations last a little longer.

Hospitality has never really been about the food. The food is simply how we bring people together.

Today in our kitchen, we have been slowly cooking featherblade of beef until it simply falls apart (and this one above did) and slow roasting pork belly until it is beautifully tender with crisp, golden crackling. We make the gravy, roast the potatoes, and watch those Yorkshire puddings rise, not because it’s the easiest way, but because we believe that’s what Sundays deserve.

If you are looking for somewhere to relax, to spend time with the people who matter, or simply to enjoy a proper Sunday lunch without having to cook it yourself, we would love to welcome you.

Our door is open, and your table is waiting.

Today, The Old Pheasant was recognised as a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Winner 2026, placing us in the top 10% of hospitality businesses worldwide.

Naturally, I am delighted.

But the award also made me reflect.

Over the last two years, I have spent countless hours worrying about costs, staffing, maintenance issues, pricing, occupancy and everything else that comes with running an independent hospitality business.

Yet guests don’t review any of those things.

They review how they felt.

This award is not a proof that we’re perfect.

Far from it.

It is a proof that hospitality is still a human business.

People remember warmth.

People remember kindness.

People remember being looked after.

People always give us a chance to be better because we will never get it 100% right for everyone, but we stay committed to make it as genuine as possible.

And that is something worth remembering in an industry that sometimes becomes obsessed with systems and processes.

A sincere thank you first of all to everyone in The Old Pheasant team, past and present who have contributed and continue to contribute to our journey and also to every guest who has supported us and taken the time to share their experience and those who gave us a chance to be better at what we do.

The work continues, thank you.
