And that’s a wrap on another events season! 🍻

A huge thank you to all of our brilliant event staff who’ve worked incredibly hard throughout the season. From long days to busy nights, you’ve done The George & Dragon proud — we couldn’t have done it without you! 👏

🍻 Our local pubs are at the heart of our communities – but with rising costs and new tax burdens, they need our support more than ever.

A fortnight ago, I had the honour of joining Andy, Ruth, their boys and the village of Stretton to tap the first barrel and officially open the wonderful The White Horse Stretton.

Last week, I crowned the The Woodhouse Arms in Corby Glen the overall winner of Rutland and Stamford’s Favourite Pub Awards! 🏆

And next week, I’ll be cheering on two more brilliant local pubs in Parliament at the Community Pub Hero Awards – masses of luck to The George & Dragon Seaton and the Olive Branch Clipsham🍀

With the rain setting in again, there’s no better excuse to try a new pub and enjoy a Sunday roast 🍽️

Congratulations to two of our wonderful local pubs who have been shortlisted as a finalist for the PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards! 🏆

🍺 The George & Dragon Seaton – Finalist in the Community Support Hero Category

The George and Dragon’s support in launching and hosting our Save Rutland Petition last year was invaluable. They became the first pub to host the petition, helping us to reach over 7,000 signatures - one of the biggest wet-signature petitions Parliament has received in the 21st Century.

🍺 Olive Branch Clipsham – Finalist in the Community Fundraising Hero Category

The Olive Branch’s Dine and Donate evenings are a wonderful example of how a local pub can make a real difference to the community. Thanks to funding raised through their ‘Dine for Rutland Dementia’ evenings, a location was secured for a second Rutland carers group in Uppingham, as well as supporting the Acorn singing group for those living with dementia, and their family and friends.

Wishing both pubs all the very best of luck for the awards in Parliament! 🍀

We’re turning The George & Dragon, Seaton into an après ski lodge this Saturday from 5pm – mulled drinks flowing, cheeks glowing, and live music courtesy of the legends at TALENTBANQ.

No lift pass needed, just rock up, warm up, and sing louder than your mate who “used to be in a band”. 🎸🍻

👉 Tag your ski crew and we’ll see you at the bottom of the mountain (aka the bar).
