After a busy couple of weeks, you can see we’re making good progress on the roof before the winter sets in!

The roof above the kitchen and dining area is almost finished, two of the chimney stacks have been repaired and the historic wooden vent has been restored. PV panels will also be installed on the roof in the courtyard in the coming days.

Lots has been going on inside too, including stripping out and repairing timbers ahead of the first fix electrics and plumbing!

You may recognise a very familiar setting when The Reluctant Vampire arrives on BBC One this October.

Filmed here at Woodchester Mansion, this brand-new BBC comedy brings the world of Eric Morecambe’s beloved books to life, starring BAFTA-winning Lenny Rush alongside an incredible cast including Tom Davis, Sian Clifford, Charlie Cooper, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Bill Bailey and Ross Noble.

And if you know Woodchester, you’ll understand why our atmospheric Gothic Mansion makes such a perfect setting for a family of vampires! 🏰🦇

The Reluctant Vampire premieres on BBC One on Sunday 4 October at 6:40pm, with the full series available on BBC iPlayer.

Keep your eyes peeled… you might just spot somewhere you recognise. 👀

Our 2026 AGM takes place one week today (Friday 18 September) from 7pm at the Nympsfield Village Hall.

If you're a member and haven't yet booked your seat please find the link in the email you were sent on 21 August to do so!

After the formal AGM there will be a bar available - we hope to see many of your there!

We were recently awarded a £5000 grant from the The Summerfield Charitable Trust, which alongside our National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, will be used to create step-free access to the Rose & Crown Inn and improve accessibility in the pub.

Thanks to the Summerfield Trust for supporting our renovation programme!

Lottery grant helps save beloved village pub

Nympsfield Community Pub Limited has secured £208,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to support the rescue and restoration of the historic Rose & Crown Inn.
