Did you know……

Local tradition says the pump was erected to
commemorate the 21st birthday of a son of Lord Middleton in 1713.

Despite looking exactly like the sort of village pump that would have supplied generations of villagers with water, the Square pump apparently wasn’t actually a pump at all, it had another purpose though…..it served a useful purpose for the village’s carters.

People bringing goods into Wollaton would apparently tie their horses and carts to the pump while they went into the Admiral Rodney for a drink.
