It’s nearly Beer Festival time here in this fine city. The festivities are running from 17 October through 2 November this year, and the Fringe is taking the festival out in the streets, with 28 city pubs partnering up with regional breweries.

The King’s Head is partnering with Beeston Brewery this year - we’re hoping always to have a Beeston beer on through the event - they’ve offered us a list of 8 different beers including Squirrel’s Nuts mild, their ever-popular Worth The Wait, and On The Huh, the CAMRA champion strong bitter of Britain 2013.

We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone out in the pubs - it’s going to be an amazing fortnight!

We are all saddened to learn of the passing of our friend Gerry Webb, who died this morning in hospital after a short illness.

Gerry was a part of the furniture at the King’s Head for years and years - usually to be found in his corner with a book or the crossword. He was always happy to lend a hand bringing in the deliveries or hauling out the empties, and he loved his real ales. There used to be a plaque on the bar in his corner saying that his wife, who predeceased him, always knew where to find him.

The photo below was taken in 2021 when he had himself shorn of his Covid beard and haircut to raise money for It's On The Ball - Testicular Cancer Charity - that day he helped to raise a spectacular £720.

RIP, Gerry. 🍻
