We have served the Wensum Lodge College and the local community for over 30 years. The building is owned by the Norwich City Council however the bar is run independently. Our prices are kept low by the membership subs paid by our members (Membership subs were waived from the year 2015-2016 onward in order to encourage the loyalty of new members). We serve a range of drinks supplied by Adnams Brewe

ry, 2-3 very reasonably priced single malt whiskeys supplied by The Whiskey Shop, and we also have an extensive selection of hot and cold beverages and sweet and savory snacks. On Friday nights we host "The Music House Acoustic(ish) Session". On the first Wednesday of every month there is a Storytelling event and on the third Thursday of most months there is a Comedy night. On the third Saturday of the month we host Cave In - a much loved retro psychedelic disco featuring underground tracks from the 1960s. All these events are free to attend however we do encourage voluntary donations towards event's running costs, maintenance of equipment and performer expenses. Other meetings, performances and events take place - ask staff for details or keep following us here! We are closed during school Christmas, Easter and Summer Holidays and during Bank Holidays.

Hello all. We are still here! I’ve had a couple of messages asking when we are reopening or what’s happening etc so wanted to jump on here and let you all know as much as we know.
We are currently still awaiting for Norfolk County Council to declare the bar safe to use following the water leak all that time ago!! We have been advised we should get some answers at the end of July now! 🤞🤞.
So we haven’t forgotten about you all. Hope to update you all again as soon as we know more information 🤞

Sad to read this in the paper this morning. Those that know Adrian would know he was a regular member to the bar especially to the music nights. Thoughts are with his family. 😞

Tributes have been paid to Adrian Holmes, a " humorous, kind, and knowledgeable” former Norwich and Norfolk councillor and parliamentary candidate.

*****Jurnets update*******

Finally I can provide an update about Jurnets. My priority was to make sure our staff new what was happening before posting anything on social media.
As you are aware we have had and are Still having a major issue with the floor, the floor/concrete is wet and we are not sure where it’s coming from. So this is causing increased damp in the bar Many people have been into investigate, surveyors, architects, even people from Norwich Castle to help solve the mystery.
So now we have been provided a “time scale” of at least six months for any further investigations and works to be completed. So while this is all happening Jurnets can not open. So unfortunately it is looking that we will be closed for at least the next 6 months. Gutted doesn’t come close to how we are all feeling as we want nothing more than to open the doors again. But these decisions are completely out of our hands.
I will keep this page updated as soon as I know more. But for now stay safe.

On my way to a meeting about the bar today I stopped off and got myself a coffee at the butterfly cafe. Just wanted to take a moment To give them a shout out. I instantly felt welcome, lots of choice on offer. My coffee was yummy and was so lovely to see nearly all the tables full. So if your along king street give them a look.

Happy Saturday everyone.
Unfortunately we still have no date to reopen. We are still having major problems with the floor and are still awaiting more engineers to come to the bar.
Sorry I can bring you any better news yet. We are missing you all and have everything crossed we will see you all again soon.

Good evening all,hope everyone is keeping well. This afternoon we had a meeting at the bar to see what has been happening and to see if we are any further forward with a date to reopen. Unfortunately we don’t.
We had a leak in the bar which was fixed but we still have some issues with the floor and can’t lay the new carpet until this has dried out. Also due to not having any windows we don’t have enough ventilation. So we are just having to wait and see what happens with these regulations and go from there. As soon as we have more details we will let you know. Take care xx
