‼️ ATTENTION GUYS AND GIRLS ‼️
After a lot of thought, countless conversations and a lot of soul-searching, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision that our time at The Nelson is coming to an end.
This genuinely isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly.
We’ve put so much of ourselves into this place. Long days, late nights, early mornings, stress, laughter, celebrations, difficult days and some absolutely brilliant memories. We’ve worked our arses off trying to make it work, and we’ll always be proud of what we’ve put into The Nelson.
But the reality is, there’s more to life than the pub.
We both have careers, responsibilities, families and things going on outside of these four walls that also need our time and attention. At the moment, there is simply too much happening in our own lives to justify continuing to give everything we have to running a pub as well.
And that’s probably the hardest part.
Because walking away can feel like admitting defeat.
But it isn’t.
We know how much work goes into running a pub, and we know that The Nelson deserves someone who can give it the time, energy and commitment that it needs. We’ve reached the point where we have to be honest with ourselves and accept that we can’t continue doing that while also trying to keep everything else in our lives together.
We cared enough to give it everything we had.
And to every single person who has supported us along the way, thank you. ❤️
To the regulars, the new faces, the people who came to the events, the karaoke singers, the bingo players, the people who popped in for one and stayed for five, the people who came for the food, the laughs, the music or simply for a chat, you’ve made this place what it is.
Some of you have become far more than customers. You’ve become friends.
And honestly, that’s what we’ll take away from this more than anything.
🍻 So what happens now?
For the time being, we’ll be selling through the stock that we currently have in the pub.
Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
We’ll be keeping things as relaxed as possible, and cash payments will be welcome while we clear the remaining stock.
There are also ongoing discussions about the possibility of someone else taking The Nelson on, so this may not necessarily be the end of the pub itself. We’ll keep everyone updated as and when we know more.
But before any of that, we’d really love to see as many of you as possible.
If you’ve been meaning to come down, have one last drink with us. Have a laugh. Tell us we’re bloody idiots for giving it up. 😂
Whatever you do, come and say goodbye, especially to the pub pups and the cat! 😂
Because although this chapter hasn’t turned out the way we hoped it would, we don’t want to remember The Nelson for the difficult bits.
We want to remember the people.
The laughs.
The ridiculous nights.
The friendships.
And all the memories we’ve made along the way. ❤️
