What makes a Sour a Sour? 🍋
The basic formula is pretty simple: spirit, citrus and sugar. Add egg white and you get that silky texture and foamy top we all know and love.
Jamie explained it to Debs (novice) in the simplest fashion…a brilliantly simple formula, manipulated to however you like your drink:
Spirit + citrus + sugar.
Examples: Wh***ey with bourbon or rye. Amaretto takes it in a sweeter, nuttier direction. Vodka keeps things clean and bright (pictured). And our Paloma Sour takes those familiar Paloma grapefruit flavours and gives them the sour treatment.
Then you can start playing with fruit, syrups, herbs, liqueurs and bitters and take that same basic structure in pretty much any direction you like.
Our Foragers Sour does exactly that, bringing together bergamot vodka, fig leaf, elderflower, gorse and citrus for something smooth, floral and a little more unusual.
Different drinks. Same balancing act: strong, sour and sweet.
We’ve got a few takes on the Sour behind the bar. Come and find your favourite. 🍸
