Some numbers to ponder and SHARE - and maybe worth a tag for a relevant organisation.

28 - the number of days since we decided that we would offer free hot lunches for the elderly of Newport for November, December and January

2237 - the number of free lunches that we have served to the city’s pensioners in the last 28 days

£3276 - the amount of additional staff pay to enable our hardworking staff to delivery the initiative over the last 28 days

£4521 - the amount of money spent on produce needed for the free lunches of the last 28 days.

Seeing the gratitude, happiness and community spirit of the pensioners who come in an eat with us - PRICELESS.

So the point of this post? We would like to help more pensioners and continue with this initiative past January.

Currently we pay for every penny without any help from anyone, but can you help us get more support from the wider business community to help contribute?

That way we can keep supporting our pensioners who have been let down by the cruelty of a government who have forced then into choosing between eating or heating.

Please tag any local managers of Aldi UK Tesco Morrisons Asda. Sainsbury's Lidl Marks and Spencer or any other outlets and organisations that could help us look after our pensioners by perhaps donating surplus food stock that we can cook.

People in Newport have always had an inherent instinct to look after their own, none more so than the vulnerable and the elderly. Let’s continue that incredible community spirit here at The Queen’s Hotel.
