Sitting-in most welcome except when a star guest is playing both sets, when it is at their discretion.

What a night we had at The Cannon’s on 13th July.
with special guest, multi-instrumentalist, Ryan McCaffrey.
Ryan, known mainly for his keyboard skills, leading his band, ‘Cong Fusion’, gave excellent performances on tenor sax with ‘How Deep Is The Ocean’ and on flute; ‘Corcovado’. We were further entertained by Ryan’s clarinet playing.
An evening of jazz standards was leavened with ‘Freddie Freeloader’, ‘It Ain’t Necessarily So’ and the Charlie Parker’s classic blues; ‘Now’s The Time’. Playing in a trio format with guitar and double bass, Dick and Andy, we were in the world of ‘chamber music.’
A more audience-friendly seating arrangement, seemed to be welcomed. We always welcome suggestions to improve the ‘atmosphere.’
Jazz at The Cannon will be taking a summer break and we will be back Monday 7th September.
It has been suggested that we return with a particular ‘theme.’ September? Autumn?
Plenty of songs, tunes on those, and other, similar themes. All welcome.

Jazz at tHe CaNNon: a jazz venue
Dear friends, 🙂
A warm welcome awaits you at our next Jazz at The Cannon, in the room at the back, on Monday 27th July 2026, from 8.00pm to 10.30pm.
This will be our last JATC prior to our summer break. We return on Monday 7th September, with an appropriate theme for the evening. 🤔 ⁉
Jazz at The Cannon resident band: JP Jazz Quartet.
Sitters-in are welcome.
Please put your name, tune/song and key, if known, on the pass-round. If the key is not known, we will help to work it out.🎶
There is a raffle, instead of an admission charge. Donations are gratefully received.
Come along, relax and enjoy yourselves.
