Time for another round of ‘Pub friends’ Art Shows’ 🖼️

This week our pal Mick Fielding is at Bottle Works with his exhibition ‘Taking Pictures of People Taking Pictures Of… Art, Smartphones and Society of the Spectacle’,

It’s starts today to coincide with his book launch, and also runs alongside a large art book sale.

You can find out more in The Crack article linked below, and do all in if you’re on the Valley this weekend 😊

Well, that was the week that was…

An absolute scorcher, a record week for lager sales, and bringer of around good vibes!

Thanks so much to everyone that joined us and especially to our amazing team! We couldn’t be prouder of them this weekend, especially in this heat!

Last week we promised you some fun today, and whilst all of the beers were pouring it all kind of got swallowed up in the sunny Bank Holiday crowds.

So in light of that, we’ve decided that this will be Chouffe Week! We’ll be pouring Session, IPA and the new Framboise through until the weekend. So if you’ve avoided the pub over the silly period, come down and fill your pointy boots this week!

Hey all.

Slightly strange post…

Were you at Wembley yesterday and lost your phone? Was your screensaver a picture with The Free trade in the background?

Get in touch. We can help reunite your with your phone :)

👋

Here we go then, it’s finally happened, it’s actually hot!

The next few days promise to be extremely busy so it’s time for our annual post about what to expect when it’s manic!

To be fair it doesn’t have to be hot for this to happen, as you’ll know if you joined us when it was (checks notes) 13* in March 😆.

Many of you’ll be familiar with how it goes, but on days like this we have no choice but to use (non)plastic cups for large parts of the day.

We don’t like doing it, we know you don’t like it, but it keeps the staff and everyone else safe, and keeps the drinks flowing.

We know this is pretty much and annual post now, but feel it’s always worth a little heads up and explanation.

Every winter we work hard to improve our setup to make things quicker, and more efficient when when the spring rolls around, but the reality is that with the numbers we see on days like these, we simply cannot fit enough glass in our small bar to keep everyone served properly.

The worst of all scenarios is to use all of the available glass and then move on to non-glass and have hundreds of glasses out and about in the gardens.

We have to get ahead of it and preempt it!

So after certain times of the day we’ll switch completely to non glass. The open nature of the pub and gardens means we do not differentiate between indoor and outdoor, we’re 100% on or the other.

Please don’t kick off with the staff about it (we know 99.9% won’t), it’s not their fault, it’s just the reality of what it takes to keep a beer in everyone’s hand.

If it’s ’not that busy’ when you’re served a bio glass, please trust us. It will be very quickly.

On weekends like these you’ll also see a reduced selection of beers on the bar as we double up on popular products, again a move to keep everything ticking over and everyone happy.

We’ll still have a good spread on with all boxes ticked as well as we can, there’ll still be guest ipa, sour, lager, NA, just probably not multiple of each style.

Thanks again, hope you all enjoy the great weather over the weekend, wherever you spend it x

Morning.

After the great response to our post about Pete’s exhibition a a few weeks ago, we’re back with more great stuff from another friend of the pub.

This time Jonny Bainbridge is showing his electrically weird and eclectically wonderful pil paintings @ The Bottle Works (next to Northern Rye) all weekend.

Pop in and have a gander if you’re about the valley this weekend ✌️
