A bit of Beehive history… 🍻🐝
The Beehive has been part of Newcastle’s story for generations. While the city around us has changed, we’ve stayed true to what we’ve always been – a proper pub with plenty of character, good company, and a warm welcome.
Whether you’ve been calling in for years, remember a few great nights here, or have only recently discovered us, we’re proud to still be standing on the corner of the Bigg Market, keeping a little piece of old Newcastle alive.

The Beehive Inn is not just a pub – it is a Newcastle institution that has refused to change while the city around it has transformed.
For generations of Geordies, The Beehive has represented the last bastion of the "old school" drinking scene. While other bars on the Bigg Market turned into w**e bars or shiny cocktail lounges, The Beehive stuck to what it knew best. It has always been defined by its no-nonsense atmosphere, its incredibly competitive prices, and a crowd that could tell you a thousand stories about the city’s past.
The building itself is actually steeped in history, being a Grade II listed structure that dates back to the 18th century, though most people are popping in for a cheap pint rather than because of the impressive architecture.
It has often divided opinion among locals. To some, it is a bit too rough and ready, a place to avoid on a Saturday night. To others, it is the beating heart of the city – a place full of genuine characters and devoid of any pretension.
It remains one of the few places in the city centre where you can still get change from a tenner for a round of drinks. In a world of gentrification, The Beehive stands its ground as a reminder of a simpler, louder, and livelier Newcastle.
