Some things never go out of style
Proud to still be standing in the heart of the Bigg Market through every decade, every fashion trend, and every change Newcastle has seen.
Who remembers their first pint in The Beehive?
In a city that never stops evolving, it is always comforting to find a familiar landmark that completely refuses to budge.
Look past the vintage coats, the classic hairstyles, and the old Bristol cigarette sign in this brilliant photograph, and you will see a scene that still feels incredibly familiar today. While Newcastle's skyline constantly shifts and our favourite high street shops come and go, The Beehive remains a steadfast anchor in the city centre.
If you look closely, you will spot that the main fascia board has had a bit of a facelift over the decades – trading its original cream backdrop for the iconic dark green and gold lettering we all recognise now. Aside from that lick of paint, the stunning tiled exterior is almost completely untouched.
Standing proudly in the heart of the Bigg Market, it is a reassuring reminder that while the rest of the world might rush to modernise, a proper Geordie pub knows exactly what it is and sees no reason to change.
When was the last time you popped into The Beehive for a pint?
