Recovery Month CommUNITY Lunch #1

Today we came together for the first of our four CommUNITY Lunches taking place throughout Recovery Month, and what a wonderful afternoon it was.

Sharing food is about so much more than eating together. It creates space for conversations, connection, learning and belonging. Recovery thrives in communities where people feel welcomed, valued and supported, and today's lunch was a great example of that in action.

A huge thank you to George Street Social for the delicious food.

We were lucky enough to have Connected Voice join us and introduce everyone to the fantastic opportunities available at the Secret Garden in Jesmond. It was inspiring to hear about the work taking place there and how local people can get involved, connect with nature and be part of something positive in their community.

Please see their leaflet attached to this post, share it far and wide!

Recovery is strengthened by the people, places and opportunities around us. By coming together, sharing experiences and discovering what's happening across our city, we continue to build stronger pathways to wellbeing and recovery for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today. We are already looking forward to the next CommUNITY Lunch (Tuesday 15th September 12:00 - 13:00)

Our autumn dates for the community cycle group are here.

Every session is free and led by one of our ride leaders, no experience needed. Arrive 9.15am, we set off at 9.30am prompt, and you’re back by 11.30am. Venues move around between Benfield Sports Centre, Cycle Hub on the Quayside, and Linskill Centre in North Shields, so check the graphic for which one applies to your date.

Bikes and helmets are available to borrow, hi-viz is provided and worn by everyone in the group, and if you’d rather start with a one-to-one before joining the group, just let us know. Adults 18+, and as long as you can ride, you’re welcome.
