Letter 6, June 2026 (full text below):
Thank you to all of those who given the time to read these and repeat parts back to me over the last six months. This will be the last public letter, at least for now. 🍀

Date: 14th June 2026.
Title: The Art and the Craft.

Haigh, to all that call The Queen’s Head a home away from home, their third place.

This is the last letter I’ll write for a little while as I take the social media side of the pub into a reset period.

Starting the writing of these letters as part of the New Year has been revealing, reinvigorating and informing. Not only have I begun to relearn the craft of writing that I had left behind, but I’ve also had the opportunity to use this to look at The Queen’s Head through a different lens.

The road ahead is now tied into taking the love of one craft and applying it to others that I hold dear.

Our recent birthday party has been a truly heartwarming end to this fourth year full circle moment.

Thank you to all of those who joined me at The Queen’s Head recently to celebrate. The turn out was far greater than I could have hoped to expect, and it is a honour to have you choose to spend your time with me.

So, you will notice that things look very sparse on our social media accounts, this won’t be for long. Trust me, this is by design.

A clean slate for this part of the new chapter of The Queen’s Head - our true Third Place is an art piece, one to be worked on continuously over the years to come.

Our social media will showcase a new approach, and feature our portfolio dedicated each of our practiced crafts - the food, the drinks and our community.

In terms of these letters? It’s goodbye for now, thank you for reading.

In terms of the pub? It’s still business as usual, see you all soon.

Slán agat, Go n-éirí an bóthar leat.

Sláinte,
Dave.

Title: A True Third Place.

Haigh, to all that call The Queen’s Head a home away from home, their third place.

A Third Place, what is it?

If you’ve followed these letters (or seen other recent posts), this phrase might be familiar to you - even if not, it will feel familiar in a few lines.

Third Places have been an important piece of the fabric of society, always.

Broadly, it’s your local spot - a barber shop, a cafe, a community space. As you’re reading this, think about it, for you, quite possibly - it’s your local pub.

These places act as great levellers of society. Safe spaces. Where connections spark naturally and ideas take root.

It is a place where the notion that ‘people move people’ really comes to life if the focus is right.

So, this letter rounds off the ‘why’ and ‘how’, with the ‘what’:
- The Queen’s Head, Great Whittington, one of Northumberland’s oldest Coaching Inns. It continues to fulfil its place as a central and iconic Third Place. It is a place that belongs, genuinely, to its community - it always has.

While I may hold the Stewardship of The Queen’s Head for now, this is your Third Place above all, and the space is yours to use. As the curtain closes on Spring, it’s time to reset the stage.

I’d love to hear from you. So, share your ideas and suggestions in the days and weeks ahead. Be it if you are a crafter or a creative looking for space to work. A leader looking for a home for your club or event, or simply a venue for a social gathering - reach out.

The Queen’s Head is here to host, and I am here to serve our community.

See you all soon.

Title: The Next Chapter is Here.

Haigh, to all that call The Queen’s Head a home away from home, their third place.

Spring has brought that deep breath of fresh air that we all needed - the extra bounce in our steps.

At the start of the fifth year of my tenure, the stage is set for our next chapter at The Queen’s Head .

Last month, I set down the why - the foundation and the promise, of The Queen’s Head as our communities third place.

If you’ve visited us over the course of April, you’ve watched things begin to change. A new approach to our food, proper pub food, and an effort to double down on choice and quality - it’s how I am working to make good on this.

But here it is in words:
- With a devotion to craft in its fullest sense, care in every pour, honesty in every plate and quality of presence behind the bar. With small, repeated acts of getting it right, you’ll feel like you’ve come home and as such, together, we’ll build and protect a true Third Place.

Tomorrow, I step into the role full time. I’m not sure I’ve ever been as excited to bring all of my energy and time to bear on something.

So, for those who’ve taken the time to visit recently, who have tried and fed back on these small glimpses of the future - thank you.

And, as ever, to all those who’ve journeyed alongside me for the last four years, again, I appreciate you. And, I’m thankful beyond words for your continued love and support of The Queen’s Head.

Our community is growing, it’s wonderful to see.

Both change and challenge lie ahead.

Is there a better time to reveal the next act? Is there a better time to really turn things on their head?

Keep an eye on our feeds as we march forward into May - get ready to pick up your part in the story of The Queen’s Head, our story.

Title: Another Full Circle.

Haigh, to all that call The Queen’s Head a home away from home, their third place.

So, the end of March, we’re drawing close to the end of a particular chapter for the Pub. It’s a vibrant time at The Queen’s Head as we close out the fourth year.

Spring is really setting a new pace in recent days. As I replan for the year ahead, I find myself looking back over all that I’ve worked on since taking hold of the keys back in April 2022.

It was at this time four years ago that myself and Isaac had finalised our business planning and pressed that send button. We’d mapped out our why, our how, and what The Queen’s Head was to be - we were excited, and things all seemed so bright.

It’s a long enough story, but the short of it?

In some parts, we embodied what we had set out to do - these were the high points, I felt that we’d succeeded.

In other parts, we drifted away from our vision - these were low points, I felt that we’d failed.

There were many hard lessons learned. So, with this in mind, I thought it was time to set back out exactly why The Queen’s Head exists - and why all third places are important:
- I believe that every person deserves a place where they are genuinely held, recognised respected and returned a feeling of belonging. Be it in happy times, or sad times, or simply as part of the unremarkable everyday.

This is the foundation on which The Queen’s Head was built. This is now, once again, how it is built - it sets out the plot for the future of the Pub.

As I stride into April, this is a reset point, relaunch if you will. A year on from when I made the decision to press on and finish what I had started.

Thank you for all those who’ve seen us through the last few years, but especially the most recent one - it’s brought us to a real full circle moment in the 325 Year story that is The Queen’s Head, Great Whittington.

I can’t wait for you to help turn to the next page.

Tá an chéad chaibidil eile ar tí tosú - the next chapter is about to begin.

Sláinte,
Dave.
