CAMRA PUB OF THE SEASON AUTUMN 2026! 🍺

When we took over last year, our initial goal was to serve some of the best real ale around. Despite the challenges of our above-ground cellar, we worked hard to get The Harp back into the Good B**r Guide.

So, being named Autumn Pub of the Season by Wirral CAMRA is as good as it gets! A massive thanks to all our amazing customers for keeping the ale flowing and giving us the chance to showcase 5 of the best local and national ales. Cheers.

It feels like Christmas and New Year is nearly on us already! Our festive menu is currently in the works, and we’ll be opening bookings soon. ✨

​The fire is swept and ready to light tomorrow. There really is nothing better than a crisp autumn walk followed by your favourite pint in a cosy spot next to our fireplace. 🍂

This Autumn:
• Sunday Roasts: Booking is essential! It's tight in here with limited tables, we always try our best for walk-ins but it's not always possible.

• Tuesday Evenings (5:30 til 7:00pm): This is our only evening food menu, so booking ahead is definitely recommended.

• Pub lunch: Served every day until 3pm 🪉

Enjoying a pint at the Harp has been tradition for over 250 years. Back in the late 1700s the start of Autumn would have meant one thing, time to roll out the barrels of October B**r... A heavy hitting English ale at nearly 9%! No need for any German Oktoberfest b**rs when we were brewing that on our doorstep.

Whilst the gin craze hadn't quite made it's way up north yet, we are certain plenty of Irish wh**ky made it's way from the busy port of Parkgate, along to the Harp. Enjoyed as a reward by many of the local colliery men!

Ale is still by far the most popular brew here, as it has been for all them centuries, we are proud to keep 5 casks to a very high standard. Although 6% is about the highest we'd get in now!! The gin craze arrived and stayed and we have a great collection for you to try and our Wh**ky is no longer smuggled to avoid the customs officers at Parkgate...

IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHRIS FAULKNER

On Monday 28th September, The Harp Inn will be closed until 5pm as we come together to remember and celebrate the life of our very dear friend, Chris Faulkner.

Chris was a much-loved friend, and we feel very fortunate to have shared so many happy memories with him. We know that he meant a great deal to many people, and we would like to give everyone who knew and loved Chris the opportunity to come together and remember him.

Chris’s service and burial will take place at 11am at Forget Me Not Fields, Thurstaston.

Following the service, we will continue the celebration of Chris’s life at The Harp Inn.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Chris, please feel very welcome to join us. Come and share a memory, raise a glass, and celebrate a truly special friend.

Next week, we will be heading to the Great British Pub Awards at Leeds Arena as finalists...and this is the team that worked so hard to get us there (well most of them!)

​Being one of just 90 pubs across the UK nominated at this huge award ceremony and just one of 6 Admiral Taverns has come as quite a surprise to be honest. We’re a small team genuinely trying to do our best as custodians of this historic pub and the amazing community that surrounds it. The judging was done back in the summer, and we hope the they loved our little corner of the world as much as everyone else does but just being considered is absolutely massive for us!

​A massive thank you to our entire team, especially those who go the extra mile on a daily basis. Most importantly, thank you to our customers, who keep this place alive and give us such a wonderful reputation! ❤️

A very impressive 90%+ partial eclipse on Wednesday sent to us by An Drea who filmed it from the bank infront of the Harp 🙂 You may have seen her set up on one of the benches. Thanks everyone for coming down getting a drink and being patient with the queues... we thought maybe a few people would come and enjoy it here but it was lovely and busy !! 🌒
