Hey all , We can now share with you all some official news....
As most will have seen last year there was a for sale sign outside the building , everyone thought that was us selling up but in fact it was the landlord selling the building and nothing to do with us, but that left our future here uncertain.
Anyway in late 2024 the building was sold and we got a new landlord. He's a very nice guy and said if we want a new lease then we can no probs , so all was good.
But as we wasn't sure at the start of who our new landlord was gonna be I think the seed was initially planted as to wether we had had our time here, and eventually we decided NOT to renew the lease . We eventually offered the business to the new landlord and he accepted.
Which means at an unknown date in April we will be leaving.
It wasn't an easy decision to make , but we feel like it's the right one.
The Alex was reopened in Nov 1988 by the late Keith snr and wife cynthia ormerod , and helped run by keith jnr a few years later, and also by the late Stephen ormerod before leaving to run his own club ie burnley snooker club. I (carol) started helping out here roughly 28 years ago then worked here full time once Stephen went to burnley.
Keith snr and cynthia then retired roughly 14years ago where keith and myself eventually bought all the tables etc etc from keith and cynthia and it officially became our business.
We have practically run the business since then between us and although it's busier now than its ever been , we feel it is the right time.
It will be extremely difficult to leave and all the memories it's given over all these years but as they say , all good things must come to an end.
So keith jnr is officially retiring and il have to get a full time job 😳. We will finally, after all these years have the chance to do what we want to do and get ourselves out there and start making new memories. 😁
We would love to see customers from the past/present who we haven't seen in a long time so we can say our goodbyes.
Don't forget we are here until sometime in April or even poss early may so it's business as usual for now.
The good news is that the new owner is keeping it as a snooker hall , also keeping the bar.
Once we leave he's planning on closing for roughly 6 weeks to make some changes, ie extending the bar to do more food for example .
We hope you continue to support him just like you have supported us over the years.
Much love , Keith and Carol ❤️ xx
