What a weekend. 🏆

The Glynrwder Cup returned this weekend for another three days of brilliant competition, bringing together players from across the club for one of the most anticipated events of the season.

This year's captains were "Diamond" Daniel Davies, leading his team Diamonds in The Rough, and Chris Foote, captaining Footy's Flag Hunters, and after three days of hard fought competition across Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it was Footy's Flag Hunters who came out on top.

A fantastic weekend of golf from start to finish, with a brilliant turnout from members across the club making it the occasion it always is.

Good luck to Peter Henderson, Geraint Greenow, Alan Gillard and Alan Taylor who are at Maesdu Golf Club in Llandudno to compete in the Welsh Men’s Handicap Team Championship Final!

Having qualified in style back in July — coming in joint first at the qualifier with Alan Taylor also claiming the best individual score on the day, the team have more than earned their place at the final.

Next Friday evening we're throwing open the doors to celebrate what has been a truly remarkable season for Glynneath Golf Club. 🏆

From the 1st Team clinching the league title and winning promotion, to the Quartz lifting their own league trophy, to the Stones fighting until the very last week of the season — this has been a year to remember and every player who has represented this club deserves to be celebrated.

And that's exactly what we're doing.

The golf is just the start of it this Sunday. 🎸

Following the conclusion of the Glynrwder Cup, we'll be welcoming Renegade 26 to the club from 5:30pm — a brilliant duo/band playing the best hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Everyone is welcome whether you're playing on the day or not, so come down, grab a drink and enjoy what promises to be a great evening.

What a day. 🏆

Captain’s Day 2026 is done and it delivered on every level. A brilliant turnout on the course, fantastic golf throughout, and a warm summer’s evening on the patio with live music to round it all off perfectly.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made it the occasion it was, and to Captain Kris Richards for putting on such a memorable day for the club.

A week on from Wrexham. What a weekend it was. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Looking back at last Friday and Saturday, it was a weekend the whole club can be incredibly proud of. Glynneath’s 1st Team more than held their own on the biggest stage in Welsh club golf, beating Rhondda Golf Club in the Round of 32 before facing the hosts and one of the tournament favourites Wrexham Golf Club in the Round of 16.

A brilliant effort from Leigh Hawkes, Glyn Williams, Matty Davies, Rhys Jones and Kris Richards and a fitting end to what has been a remarkable season for this group.

The journey ends at Wrexham, but what a journey it has been. 👏🏻

This afternoon Glynneath’s 1st Team faced the hosts Wrexham Golf Club in the Round of 16 of the Welsh Men’s Team Championship Finals and despite a battling performance, were edged out by a side widely regarded as one of the favourites for the title.

Wrexham Golf Club 3.5 – 1.5 Glynneath

But let’s not let that overshadow what this group has achieved. League champions, promoted, an unbeaten home record, a run to the Round of 16 of the Welsh Men’s Team Championship, this has been a season that Glynneath Golf Club will look back on with enormous pride.

To captain Leigh Hawkes and every player who represented the club this weekend and throughout the season, you’ve done us proud. Thank you.

Glynneath's 1st Team got their Welsh Men's Team Championship Finals campaign off to a brilliant start this afternoon at Wrexham Golf Club, seeing off Rhondda Golf Club in the Round of 32 and giving the club a day to celebrate.

Tomorrow they face the hosts Wrexham Golf Club in the Round of 16. Whatever tomorrow brings, today belongs to this squad. Brilliant effort from every one of them. 👏
