Looking for something to do this weekend? From Thursday evening the Bhurtpore starts to return to the fray. It's a way off ready for the full return, but 3 beers (Salopian and Thornbridge) will be available, and I can't wait. It's not going to be easy for them (opening glitches to work through), but come along and enjoy the beer, the company, the atmosphere, and celebrate the Bhurtpore! See their own post below.

A massive thank-you to all who turned out yesterday, and all through the week for one last visit during our time here at the Bhurtpore. I had been a little distracted at times as we had got it into our heads that there was a last minute problem, but a short chat with Neil Goodwin today cleared up what was a remarkably stupid misunderstanding on my behalf!
From today the pub will be closed for a few weeks. Our dining room is already well on the way to be a recreation of 18 The Park cafe which is relocating from Wrenbury. They hope to open in mid February.
The Bhurtpore will return a few weeks later having been given a facelift. I will be working with Neil and his son Ben to ensure that the beer range is recognisably Bhurtporeish and also to keep some of the curries on their menu.
Our kitchen team will be staying on and we hope what few front of house staff we have will also stay.
We had some lovely moments over the last week, but one customer had to be nasty and try to spoil everything. See picture.
Look forward to seeing you all in March!

Our 33rd and last new year at the Bhurtpore is done and dusted. The Travelling Wrenburys - Alisdair, Kegsy and Steve pictured (at 2.45am) and Colin Browne who left at a very slightly more respectable hour - put on a terrific show. Such a shame they came together for one night only. Fantastic seasoned professionals. Given the Scottish origins of two of them they could have been the new Bay City Rollers!
Thanks are also due to you, the customers.
We were a man down on the bar all day and many of you had to wait longer than usual for service. Jack has a nasty dose of flu - real flu. He offered to work in a mask but we didn't want this to turn into a super-spreader event!
I finally locked up at 5.30am, so just a little jaded today. 3 days off though, so we will look forward to seeing you from Thursday.
Cheers!

Evening all!
Very late in the day, I'm afraid, but we have a band for New Years Eve. And today I bought a car full of fireworks.
The beer line up should be stellar (as opposed to Stella!) and it's nearly time to party. Dining spaces are now very limited, but we have music, fireworks (weather permitting) and good drinks with which to see 2024 in. Free entry as always.
Colin Browne has also played with that little known national treasure, Kate Bush, plus Ruby Turner and the Climax Blues Band by the way. I just 'Couldn't Get it Right'.

Another week dawns at the Bhurtpore. Crisp and fresh. On the whole we feel more people will choose to sit indoors than out over the coming days, though the forecast is no more frost for a little while.
Happily, the road between Aston and Wrenbury is open again now, though customers coming from Audlem should know that Sheppenhall Lane is now closed - the short diversion is signed.
Great range of beers here again this week. Seven new on this morning including Salopian Lemon Dream, Abbeydale Serenity and Thornbridge Otter's Tears.
Mulled wine is available too, and we have a promotion running on Beartown Inception. Turkey and Christmas pudding are on the menu if you are ready for it!

Been a bit useless updating this twitter thing lately.
The big news is that there is a new proper curry available. The latest iteration of Lamb Apocalypse Later includes Trinidad Yellow Scorpions, Armageddon, Naga Morich and Carolina Reaper chilies amongst others.
The frosted look is because they were frozen. You can avoid feeling frozen this winter by simply enjoying these little beauties on a regular basis.
And yes, they will keep you 'regular'.

Another fine selection of beers for your delectation this week, and we hope to have a belated Christmas Party menu available in the next few days.
Given the number of road closures at the moment, and the state of the few that remain open, first choice this week should be to get your helicopters out to get here.
Actually, the road from Nantwich will get you all the way to Aston before the closure. Whitchurch, not so good.

Do you, or anyone you know want a job?
We need staff. Front of house staff - waiting on and bar - full time and part time.
Urgently.

Just in case you were wondering......
Everything has now returned to normal here at the pub. As you can see from the picture. Full curry list is now replenished, too.
Yes. I know the picture's out of focus. Sorry!

Today I sadly have to report that, though we got so far down the line, we have had to call time on our attempt to reach agreement with Nomad Wines over the future of the Bhurtpore.
We simply weren't able to satisfy each others requirements.
Yes. Your'e all stuck with Nicky and I for a while yet.
Better get used to it!
I wish Rachel and Cameron all the best for the future.

Morning all. The imminent sale of the Bhurtpore seems to have hit a bump in the road.
As a result we expect to be here for the next couple of weeks and will continue to take bookings going forward.
My last post offering a sale of excess stock of wines has to be withdrawn, I'm afraid, as we now need it as stock in the normal way. Many thanks to all those who bought so much of it!
The photo is from my recent night out in London. I thought that night would mark the beginning of retirement. Hawkwind with Arthur Brown and William Orbit. The best I've seen them since 1975 when Lemmy was still in the band. Hell, they were loud!
