Staggs bar, officially The Volunteer Arms, has been owned and operated by the same family since 1858

It is a friendly local, famous for its many guest real ales and around 30 rums (including the original Sailor Jerry, sold on special occasions). There is a main bar with additional seating in a small lounge, a larger lounge and bar open on Friday and Saturday nights and a beer garden for those lovely sunny Scottish summers!

Baird’s Malt’s Scottish Ale Malt dominates the grist, with our favourite Chevalier backing up. A bitter, piney and resinous IPA, with a grassy complexity brought by the hefty dose of Zappa, Chinook, Cascade, Cashmere and Columbus hops. Finished with a Jasper Yeast strain whose ancestry can be traced back to McEwan’s

First up we have the much anticipated Celtic v Hearts kicking off at 12.30pm. Four of our inside TVs will have the match on and two outside TVs. The lounge will not be open for the match.

1.30-5pm CAMRA AGM in the lounge. We will be receiving our Lothian POTY and our Edinburgh and SE Scotland POTY 2026 awards 🙌🙌

FA Cup Final Chelsea v Manchester City will be on the TVs from 3pm

The lounge is closed from 6pm for a private event.

Doors open at 11.30am today.
