The Union Inn is a traditional tavern with a history stretching back several centuries. It is the oldest tavern still trading in Moretonhampstead and retains many features and the atmosphere of past years. You will receive a warm welcome from the staff of the Union Inn when you visit us. The Union Inn is owned and run by Dave Colridge who has lived in Moretonhampstead all of his life (so far!).

Our next quiz!
Bit of a different one for us, I appreciate it’s not so much a local cause/charity but it is Devon and we still have our very own land girl in our community so we think it’s right that we help out if we can, so come and join in our quiz. If you can’t make the quiz but you would like to donate we have a box on the bar or press the link below and that will take you to Becks’ Devonshire land girls page where you can donate online.

Ellen’s story

Ellen Brown joined the Womens Land Army in 1940. She served for 5 or 6 weeks at Lambert Farm, Crockernwell before she died of natural causes in her sleep aged just 24.

Ellen now lies in an unmarked grave in Exeter Higher Cemetery and as one of my Devonshire Darlings I would love to be able to provide her with a headstone.

There is a £504 cost payable to Exeter City Council for the right to erect a lawn memorial and an additional cost of approximately £700 for the headstone itself.
