The Royal at Hesham is the place to stop off for lunch with friends, take a pit stop as you pass by the Lancashire coast or to stay the night in one of our bedrooms after a day of exploring all that Heysham, Lancaster and Morecambe have to offer. Step into our cosy bedrooms where you’ll be greeted with views of the bay at Heysham beach, kick your feet up in front of the fireplace in our atmospheric bar area, and enjoy an afternoon on our outdoor terrace or in our winter tent with one of Thwaites award-winning ales.

Hello everyone! 👋

So, I have some very exciting news to share! We’re having an internal refurbishment here at The Royal 🤩

Between Monday October 5th - Wednesday 14th October, our business will be closed as we aim to enhance our already beautiful 16th century Inn of Character. You can expect a real rural & classic feel being brought to life in our property, accompanied with new furnishing, decorations & many more surprises 💙

Adding to this, we will be diving into the world of Afternoon Tea with a twist, elevating our food & drink offerings even further & a reopening party on Thursday 15th October from 5pm, with complimentary canapés & the opportunity to come and see the work we’ve conducted 💫

Please feel free to reach out to myself or the team with any questions or requests during our closure period between 5th & 14th October 2026 & all of us here look forward to bringing the brilliant results to our amazing guests very soon! 🌟

That starts tonight, as outtatime look to get the royal rocking this bank holiday Sunday from 8:30pm! We were packed to the rafters last night, so get down early to secure your table or standing space! 💫

We have lots planned for our Autumn & Winter season, with functions in the Winter Tent, Festive Dining, Christmas Day, booking out the booths & even some exciting news regarding the inside of our property, all of which are just around the corner 👀

Hello Heysham!

Unfortunately, I have some very disappointing news to bring, due to the weather warnings going in place from tomorrow with thunderstorms & rain through the weekend, we have had to make the safe decision to cancel this years Heyshambury 💔

After bringing it back last year & seeing our amazing guests enjoy the weekend, we were extremely excited to bring you a bigger & better one this year over bank holiday. We do though have to be responsible & realistic with the weather forecast and guest, staff & performers safety must always be a priority.

We have organised the brilliant Matt Appleton to play inside on Saturday 29th, 9pm - 10:30pm & are just waiting on confirmation from an act inside on Sunday 8:30pm - 10:30pm, so we can still have fun this bank holiday 👍

As much as we’d love to, we can’t control the weather & I want to thank all our performers for being fantastic throughout the planning of Heyshambury 2026. I can assure all our guests I will be bringing plenty of big weekends, live music & even the possibility of a winter festival this year to The Royal to make up for this unfortunate cancellation & do apologise for any inconvenience.

Notice to guests!

Unfortunately with the weather that’s just arrived in Heysham we have had to cancel our live music from Outtatime this evening, as it’s not safe & very very wet!

We are forecasted a much nicer Saturday, so we have high hopes for a great evening of live music tomorrow evening with David Frederick 🤞

It starts this Friday evening, as we welcome Outtatime, 7pm - 9pm in our 200 seater beer garden! Saturday then brings the arrival of David Frederick for the first time, who we are delighted to have 7pm - 9pm! 😍

The special board is also full of fan favourites, with Lamb Shank, Cajun Salmon Fillet & much more all available, alongside our hand crafted main menu! Book your tables via the link below ⬇️

The weekend is closing in & what a line up we have for all our wonderful guests! 🤩

We kick off tomorrow, Friday 14th August, with The Royal Throwback night, with DJ Sully, 6pm - 9pm. Warm weather, amazing food & drink and 80’s & 90’s through the evening, what’s not to like 😍

Andy Creevy then takes the stage Saturday 15th August, a firm favourite for our guests here at The Royal, 6pm - 8pm. Of course, the outdoor bar & kitchen again will be open 12pm - late all day! ✨

Live music this weekend is ready to go! 🎤

Ellie Longton kicks us off this evening, Friday 24th July, 6pm - 8pm, followed by Melanie Horobin on Saturday evening, 25th July, 6pm - 8pm! 🌟

Seats always fly out fast in our garden, so with over 200 available make sure you get down in time to secure a table. We do have plenty of standing area to! Outside bar open all weekend, unfortunately our outdoor kitchen will be closed due to some chef holidays, however main kitchen serving all day, 12-8:30pm 🤩
