We are Rafferty's Bar on Baker Street, a public house and live music venue located at the heart of Middlesbrough Town Centre. My name is Stuart Olsen and I own and run Rafferty's with my partner Leanne, my son Sebastian and a small team of staff, our resident musician/barman Reece Vidamour, the wonderful Zoe (The one with green/blue hair) and new recruit Matthew. We are an independent business, I
have working some of Middlesbrough's iconic venues, in 2017 I felt it was time to go out on my own. It hasn't been easy, the pandemic didn't help, but we have built in 4 years a fabulous customer base, met some wonderful people and yes it is hard work but it is rewarding. Located on Baker Street, some may have thought of a Sherlock Holmes themed name. However, we are a little bit different and as a music venue, there was only one name that jumped out 'Rafferty's', Gerry's iconic song seemed fitting. We are a community based venue, a social hangout and our goal is to bring people together to share music and have a positive experience. Music is a particular love of ours, we have on open mic every Tuesday from 8pm, we put on a live acoustic singer every Friday and all our listings can be found on our website at raffertysbar.co.uk
We are big fans of Middlesbrough FC and are within walking distance of the Riverside Stadium, we attract fans and offer live big screen football with BT Sport before 3pm kick offs, then, after the game at 5:30pm on every home game, we bring you a live acoustic act. Then at 8pm every Saturday we have our resident and guest DJs bringing a broad range of music from retro house, 80's, disco, RnB, soul, rock and roll, indie and cult classics we play a bit of everything to bring joy to our customers. With a central location of Middlesbrough, we are placed ideally near the Holiday Inn Express, Travelodge, Premier Inn and Jury Inn, so if you are visiting for work and want a bit of music and drinks during the week, or you are here for the weekend to let your hair down, Rafferty's is your ideal venue. Just a couple of minutes away from Middlesbrough Town Hall, Centre Square and The Middlesbrough Empire we always welcome people to join us before going on to concerts, comedy shows and other entertainment. We have an upstairs bar too that we use on the weekend, selling a brilliant selection of unusual and classic spirits, cocktails, draft lager and craft beers, so if you pop by and we look busy, try upstairs, we don't think you will be disappointed. We want to be more than just a pub, which is why we support local musicians, we find them gigs, we share their talent and look to helping them along their journey. Look out for our family events, Piano players on Sunday afternoons, little ones are welcome, ideal for after a Sunday roast in one of Middlesbrough's many great eateries. We have done pumpkin carving for families, inviting the children to join us and play games, we have done a sing along to Christmas songs for families on the Santa parade day in the town centre, we may not be the traditional centre of a community, but since 2017 we have built a community of good kind people to be our customers, who share our goals in creating a friendly atmosphere. We like to be a little different, we look around the country to source different drinks that you maybe haven't seen before, from Dandelion and Burdock Gin to Salted Caramel Rum our spirit range for a micropub is extensive, and we change our guest Gin's, Rum's and Craft Beers to enhance our customer experience and bring something new to your lives. We are always welcoming to new customers, we hope you to see you soon and you enjoy your time with us.
