Some very sad news from over the weekend, we lost a Martin Legend and our very own "Mr fix-it" Fergus Phillip who sadly passed away in hospital.
"Ferg" as he's better known has become a good friend and patron of The Royal Oak and its pool playing customers, always happy to mend pool cues etc and often strolled in with a gift for the bar, reading the time on the bar from the clock he donated will be a little more poignant going forward and he will be deeply missed by us all, our deepest sympathy goes out to James, Laura, Sheila and the rest of the Phillip family and close friends at this very sad time,
Take care my friend until we meet again, "your break"!

With staff holidays and lots of holiday makers joining us over the summer, we’d recommend booking a table for food wherever possible to avoid disappointment and wait times 🍽️

So we had two sweepstakes for the world cup, both had a prize for the winner and runner up, for the 1st draw the winner is Simon Fieldhouse who had Spain and Alan Doughty who had Argentina.
Our 2nd sweepstake for the last 32 in sealed envelopes (which I opened in people's absence), Dale Whorlow and Helen Whorlow had Spain and Pete and Marie had Argentina, congratulations to the winners and thankyou for your participation and continued support. On a lighter note our very own "plastic paddy" (wavey you know who I mean) drew England on both sweepstakes, what's the chances, every cloud 🤣!!
