Sunday saw Manchester’s own SkaJesus elected as the new Mayor of London.

After appearing at London’s Reggae Cookout in celebration of Musclehead’s birthday alongside Musclehead and the Tighten Up Crew, SkaJesus will be henceforth known as the Muhammad Ali of Ska 😊

Here’s a couple of video clips to support that claim!

If you can’t get enough of the man, you can see him on home turf at the next Nu Beat Club night on Saturday 30 January 2027….. all details to follow.

Thanks to everyone that came down to a sweltering Manchester on Saturday for the Summer 2026 edition of The Nu Beat Club.

As always, we had our usual great mix of travellers and locals who packed the dancefloor all night and were still packing it at 3am.

Not content with having a new bigger home at The Deaf Institute, we introduced a second room to screen the England match. Which, judging by the nerves in there didn’t look too clever a move … until the final whistle. Then it looked like a stroke of genius!

Thanks to guest DJs Sonny Anderson and Xavi Heras for playing superb and mixed sets that kept the dancefloor moving and that fitted right in with the Nu Beat vibe.

Here’s a handful of videos from the night. These say more than a thousand words could.

Just making sure we’ve got everything lined up for Saturday night...

Don’t forget we’ve moved to the bigger and better Lodge Room at The Deaf Institute, so there will be more room for dancing and more room for resting!

Advanced tickets are still available on Eventbrite, but we are holding some back for Pay On The Door on Saturday

For one night only we have a second room where we will be screening the England v Norway game

Again for one night only, to celebrate (or mourn) the result – we have an extra hour’s worth of dancing

On top of all that, we have organised a heatwave for Saturday!

We know we are all in the middle of World Cup Fever, but more important than that we are less than 3 weeks away from the 11 July edition of The Nu Beat Club.

Residents SkaJesus, Paul and Crazy Joe will be joined by guest selectors Sonny Anderson and Xavi Heras. Vintage 60s Jamaican and Soul sounds of the highest order guaranteed.

Don’t forget, we are still at The Deaf Institute in City Centre Manchester but have moved upstairs to the bigger and better Lodge Room.

Advanced Tickets are literally flying out, so avoid disappointment and get one today from Eventbrite using this link

As the clock is ticking towards the next Nu Beat Club, it’s time for another Top 3 from the second of our guest DJs for 11 July.

Making a welcome return behind the decks of The Nu Beat is Manchester’s favourite Spanish Renaissance Man, Xavi Heras (He plays guitar in 3 bands ! He DJs Soul and R&B ! He DJ's Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae!)

Here’s hoping that England don’t get Spain in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup otherwise we might have to ban him!

Don’t forget, we are still at The Deaf Institute in City Centre Manchester but have moved upstairs to the bigger and better Lodge Room.

Advanced Tickets are available from Eventbrite
