While we’re all desperately counting the days until 30 January for the next installment of The Nu Beat Club, here’s a special treat for everyone to get in their diaries for the beginning of spring.

Our very own Sugar SkaJesus is one of a whole host of selectors playing their tunes at the 4th Berlin Boss Reggae Weekender over 5 and 6 March 2027. The King of Ska will be playing his bombs alongside a great line-up from the UK, Europe and even the United States. It has all the signs of being a weekend that shouldn’t be missed.

Berlin is one of the great European cities with shedloads to do alongside the weekender. Hopefully we will see some of you there.

All the details are on the flyer and tickets can be bought via the QR code.

We have finally pulled everything together to confirm all the details of the next Nu Beat Club night in Manchester.

The date is Saturday 30 January 2027 at The Deaf Institute. Doors open at 9pm and the night runs through to 2am.

Resident Selectors Sugar SkaJesus and Crazy Joe will be joined by special guests Les Hare and Tipper.

Entry is £8 (cash on the door). Advance tickets are available from The Deaf Institute.

The eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that Paul’s name is missing from the residents list. After 13 years of Nu Beat shenanigans, Paul has decided to put his feet up and have a well earned rest. Hopefully we’ll see him at a future Nu Beat as a punter!

Following on from SkaJesus’ trip to London last weekend, it’s Paul’s turn to hit the road.

Paul will be making his annual pilgrimage to South Yorkshire, to guest at the long running Get On Up Soul Club.

The date is Friday 25 September and the location is The Dale Tavern, West Street (Just off the A61), Worsborough, Barnsley S70 5PG.

This is a genuine Across The Board northern soul night, with something for everyone. Doors open at 7pm and close at 11.30pm. Entry is £3 otd.

Woody and Sue have promoted this great night over several years and the venue is always packed month after month, with a top atmosphere and a full dancefloor.

If you’re in that part of the country, It’s always well worth a visit. Hopefully we'll see some of you there.

Sunday saw Manchester’s own SkaJesus elected as the new Mayor of London.

After appearing at London’s Reggae Cookout in celebration of Musclehead’s birthday alongside Musclehead and the Tighten Up Crew, SkaJesus will be henceforth known as the Muhammad Ali of Ska 😊

Here’s a couple of video clips to support that claim!

If you can’t get enough of the man, you can see him on home turf at the next Nu Beat Club night on Saturday 30 January 2027….. all details to follow.

Thanks to everyone that came down to a sweltering Manchester on Saturday for the Summer 2026 edition of The Nu Beat Club.

As always, we had our usual great mix of travellers and locals who packed the dancefloor all night and were still packing it at 3am.

Not content with having a new bigger home at The Deaf Institute, we introduced a second room to screen the England match. Which, judging by the nerves in there didn’t look too clever a move … until the final whistle. Then it looked like a stroke of genius!

Thanks to guest DJs Sonny Anderson and Xavi Heras for playing superb and mixed sets that kept the dancefloor moving and that fitted right in with the Nu Beat vibe.

Here’s a handful of videos from the night. These say more than a thousand words could.

Must remember to get the air con switched on early tonight!

Football screening AND the best club night in Manchester

Don't forget - if you are paying on the door ...it is cash only

08/07/2026

Just making sure we’ve got everything lined up for Saturday night...

Don’t forget we’ve moved to the bigger and better Lodge Room at The Deaf Institute, so there will be more room for dancing and more room for resting!

Advanced tickets are still available on Eventbrite, but we are holding some back for Pay On The Door on Saturday

For one night only we have a second room where we will be screening the England v Norway game

Again for one night only, to celebrate (or mourn) the result – we have an extra hour’s worth of dancing

On top of all that, we have organised a heatwave for Saturday!
