Wythenshawe CC U13s beat Stretford CC U13 Panthers by 55 runs in the SMJCL Summer Cup Comp.

A superb all-round team performance saw Wythenshawe U13s secure an impressive 55-run victory at Longley Lane, posting 148/2 from 20 overs before bowling Stretford out for 93.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Wythenshawe built an excellent total with contributions throughout the order.
Capt F Ramsbottom anchored the innings with 30 retired not out, K Allison played a fluent and aggressive 30 retired not out from just 20 balls, while M Hague (16) and J Pullen (15* not out) ensured the innings finished strongly.

The bowlers then backed up the batting display with a disciplined performance.

B Dandu led the way with outstanding figures of 3-13, while F Ramsbottom claimed 2-3 from two overs.

Wickets were shared around with A Gore, J Sullivan,
A Jan and M Hague all taking one apiece as Stretford were dismissed for 93.

For the visitors, A Shoaib top-scored with 30 retired not out but regular wickets prevented any sustained partnership as Wythenshawe remained in control throughout the chase.

A convincing victory built on strong batting, sharp fielding and a collective bowling effort earned Wythenshawe a well deserved four points, commiserations to Stretford & thanks for coming over to Wythenshawe CC on a fine sunny evening, perfect for cricket 🏏☀️

This prestigious award recognises Fred’s outstanding dedication, professionalism and many years of service to cricket. His commitment as an official, mentor and ambassador for the game has earned the respect of players, clubs and fellow officials across Lancashire.

More Interleague representation success for Wythenshawe CC this week! 🏏

It’s been another fantastic week for some of our jnr/youth players representing their leagues and our club.

🔹 Tuesday – Morgan Platt featured for MSRC U17s against NWCL.

🔹Tuesday proved a busy day, as Rhys McCoy and James Pullen were both part of the MSRC U13s side that claimed an exciting one-run victory over Liverpool & District.

🔹 Also on Wednesday, Aneesa Jan and Poppy Davies helped GMCL U13 Girls to victory over Northern Pyramid, with Aneesa top-scoring with an excellent 37 runs.

🔹 Thursday – Elise Platt, Aneesa Jan and Poppy Davies were all on the winning side again as the GMCL U15 Girls defeated Northern Pyramid, each adding valuable contributions with the bat & ball.

🔹 Congratulations also goes to Elise Platt, who is very excited to have been selected for the MCCF U17 Girls NW regional squad to attend their inter regional residential comp in Peterborough.

A huge well done to everyone involved this week. It’s fantastic to see so many Wythenshawe CC players representing their leagues and our club with distinction, this is a real testament to the hard work of our players, coaches and volunteers in developing young cricketers at Wythenshawe CC. GMCL Plate KO Cup Final

Tottington St John’s CC beat Wythenshawe Lions by 6 wickets

Lions’ impressive GMCL Plate KO Cup run came to an end in the final as Tottington St John’s claimed a six-wicket victory, chasing down a target of 99 in 13.3 overs. Despite the disappointment, the Lions battled hard throughout and were competitive with the ball after posting 98 all out in 16.5 overs.

Asked to bat first, the Lions found scoring difficult against a disciplined Tottington attack. Wickets fell regularly, leaving the innings under pressure from the outset. B. Konduru produced the standout batting performance with a stunning counter-attacking 41 from just 19 balls, striking five sixes and one four at a strike rate of 215.79 to give Wythenshawe a fighting total. M. Adavelly added a quick-fire 15 from six deliveries, while M. Taylor chipped in with 13, but the rest of the batting line-up was unable to build lasting partnerships as the Lions were bowled out for 98.

Defending a modest total, Wythenshawe responded with energy and commitment. M. Adavelly starred with the ball, producing an outstanding spell of 4-26 from four overs to keep the pressure firmly on Tottington and give the Lions hope.
V. Muslapuram, B. Konduru, R. Subramanian and S. Yadala all bowled economical spells, but the target ultimately proved within reach for the opposition, who finished on 101-4 with 39 balls remaining.

Although the final ended in defeat, reaching the showpiece occasion capped an excellent cup campaign for the Lions.
A semi-final victory earlier in the day had secured their place in the final, and while silverware narrowly slipped away, standout performances from B. Konduru and M. Adavelly ensured Wythenshawe fought until the very end in a hard-fought conclusion to their GMCL Plate KO Cup run - thanks to all our travelling support, it meant so much to our club & all the players.
Great hospitality from Tottington St John’s CC too, congrats of course on the win and for putting on a great finals day.

Wythenshawe Lions beat Ashton Black Knights by 5 wickets 💥

Lions booked their place in the GMCL Plate KO Cup Final with a composed five-wicket victory over Ashton Black Knights, chasing down 136 with 29 balls to spare.

After Ashton elected to bat, the Lions’ bowlers kept striking at regular intervals to dismiss the visitors for 135 in 19.2 overs. Paul Burrell led the attack with an outstanding 3-19 from four overs, while R. Subramanian (2-20), M. Adavelly (2-20) and V. Muslapuram (2-42) all claimed two wickets. B. Konduru wrapped up the innings with 1-14, ensuring Ashton never built a match-defining partnership.

The chase had a few nervous moments as Wythenshawe slipped to 80-5, but a superb unbeaten partnership between M. Adavelly and V. Muslapuram guided the Lions home in style. Adavelly played the match-winning knock, finishing 43 from just 20 balls*, smashing five fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 215, while Muslapuram added a calm 7 from 10 balls*. Earlier contributions from S. Sivasylam (32) and M. Saifullah (19) kept the scoreboard moving before Adavelly’s explosive finish sealed victory at 136-5 in 15.1 overs.

It was a complete team performance from the Lions, with disciplined bowling, sharp fielding and a clinical chase securing a deserved place in the final later in the day 🏏
