Twas the night before Oktoberfest and all throughout the bar,
The bartenders were prepping for those coming from near and far.
“Let’s have a Faith in Monschbier…but in a Stein”
Sam chuckled, “Oh, we’ll have a jolly good time!”
The team were now snug in their beds, dreaming sweet malted dreams,
Visions of lagers and märzens with rich amber gleams.
The scent of floral hops filled the air,
The promise of festivity was soon to be there.
When out on the street there arose such a cheer
I rushed to the window - was this the dray full of beer?
With a little old driver so jolly and spry,
I knew in a moment Oktoberfest must be nigh.
The driver whistled and should with glee,
as he listed all the beers, “how drunk can you be? Now, Märzen! Now, Pilsner! Now, Weiss!
On, Hopfenweisse! On, Helles! Oh so nice!”
And then with a wink he proclaimed with a glow,
“Come back tomorrow (at 12pm), all the taps will flow!”
We raised our steins, giving a hearty “Prost!” call,
“Happy Oktoberfest - good cheer to you all!”
