Who is Rufus ?

Rufus Bar and Kitchen is a retro eatery in Prestwich, that aims to bring all the flavour and fun from the 70’s into the 21st century. The atmosphere we have created is laidback and this transfers through to the menu which is an array of comfort dishes and breakfast favourites. We promise to give customers a journey back in time with our soul funk playlists, offering non stop classics day and night. The venue oozes with images of graphical and design interest and is sure to be a conversation starter for all customers. There is even a staged living room suspended above dinners on the first floor, created on memories of the forbidden ‘guests room’ which often featured in family homes of this era.

The name Rufus has strong roots in Bar Owner Pauls Caribbean ancestry; stemming from his great uncle Rufus Rupert Warren, who owned an infamous rum bar in St Elizabeth (Jamaica). The rum bar was known for its late night parties and for having the loudest sound system in town. The family stories of women gathering from far and wide to the local hotspot continue to be told decades on and with that we wish to share the energy and spirit of Rufus even further through the bar and kitchen.
