The Deaf Institute Night Club / Live Music Venue / Bar "The Deaf Institute has a special feel that justifies its reputation as one of Manchester’s hippest, hottest venues.
(1894)

From the vast array of decorative loudspeakers on the walls behind the bar to the ever-impressive lists of new, breaking and occasionally revered artists in the schedules, it’s a venue that gives the impression that it cares about new and good, usually independent music." - The Guardian

Artist Statement below:

Guys!

I’m absolutely devastated to say that I have to cancel tonight’s show in Manchester. I’m honestly gutted typing this out because touring for me is a privilege and I’ve been looking forward to these shows for 9 months!

You actually couldn’t write that the week of the tour I wake up feeling unwell the Saturday morning before.

I have tried absolutely everything to get my voice back for tonight but I felt it going last night in Newcastle before I went on stage. I was worried walking out last night, and I’ve never done a gig before where I needed the crowd to get me through it as last night did. As soon as last nights show finished I could barely talk and was coughing up all sorts of green back stage.

What kills me the most is the fear that people think I’m a guy who cancels. In fact I’ve prided myself on being the guy that always shows up no matter what and for some reason certain events for this tour has meant that hasn’t been the case.

I’m currently sat in a Starbucks service station an hour from Manchester in the hope I’d be able to make it tonight, but I can feel, having just tried in the car I can’t even get close to singing along to my songs. If you could see the things I’ve tried today to get it back, I’m sure you’d laugh.

Some people would say, Jamie, it's fine, it’s just a show or two that you’ve had to cancel and maybe I’m a dramatic person who knows, but it doesn’t feel like that for me. I think about every single ticket bought, every arrangement you made, trains, petrol, babysitters, early work finishes; I promise you I feel it all. A part of me wants you all to come anyway so I can apologise in person, but then I wouldn’t be able to reschedule the venue and rebook the show.

However, I am pleased to say the show will now take place on Friday 13th November 2026, in a couple of weeks. Please hold on to your tickets as they will all be valid for the new date.
