🧥👓👜 LOST PROPERTY AT THE CHURCH HOUSE! 👜👓🧥

Our lost property collection is starting to look like we’ve opened a small branch of Go Outdoors. 😂

We’ve accumulated a fair few coats, jumpers and various other bits and bobs that have been left behind at The Church House.

So, if you’ve recently got home and thought “I’m sure I went out wearing a coat…” there’s a very good chance we’ve got it! 🤣

Please pop in and have a look or message us if you think something belongs to you.

We’ll keep everything for a few more days, then any unclaimed clothing will be donated to the clothes bank in our car park so it can go to a good home. ❤️

Please have a think and come and reclaim your belongings before we have a clear-out!

Tag anyone you know who regularly leaves the pub with fewer possessions than they arrived with… 😂🍻

🍺 NOW POURING AT THE CHURCH HOUSE – THE HERO IPA 🇬🇧

This isn’t just another pint on the bar — this one comes with a brilliant story behind it.

The Hero IPA is a beautifully balanced 4% Session IPA, created by Alf Turner and brewed by Hogs Back Brewery in support of Help for Heroes. A contribution from every pint sold helps support members of the Armed Forces community and their families. ❤️

Brewed using home-grown English Cascade hops, it’s smooth and easy-drinking with zingy citrus, mellow tropical flavours and a lovely clean, dry finish. 🍊🌿

Originally created as a tribute to those who have served, The Hero IPA combines a proper British pint with a cause very close to many people’s hearts.

And considering our very own landlord Sean served in the Royal Artillery, we think this one deserves a particularly warm welcome onto the bar at The Church House. 🇬🇧🍺

A pint that does a little bit of good while you drink it. We can definitely get behind that! 🍻

Thanks for this great write up on our famous Sutton8 charity pub walk which involves all the fantastic pubs in our beautiful area!

With the sad news that the Hanging Gate Inn is closing from this month, we are sad that this cherished pub will no longer be involved with the Sutton 8. However, we are delighted to announce that the Langley Cricket Club is joining us so the Sutton8 will remain the Sutton8!! The cricket club has a lot to offer…. A great club house, breathtaking views and a fantastic team behind the bar. We are thrilled they have agreed to form part of the Sutton8 🍺

The new proposed route will be;
The Church House Inn
St Dunstan Inn
Leather's Smithy Pub
Back to Langley Cricket Club
Up and over to The Ryles Arms
Sutton Ex-Servicemen's Club
Sutton Hall
Ye Olde Kings Head - Gurnett

The next one is our Christmas One on the 5th December. Tickets will be on sale from next month! So get involved!!! 🍺 🧑‍🎄

The Sutton 8 is growing in popularity!

A traditional pub crawl with a few drinks, food, fun and fundraising.

The Sutton 8 is growing in popularity after around 240 walkers joined its latest hike through the Cheshire countryside.
Plenty of refreshments were enjoyed along the way as £1,120 was raised for East Cheshire Hospice.

The donation went to the charity’s What Women Want fundraising group who have raised £500,000 over 15 years.
The Sutton 8 is held twice a year with the next walk on Saturday, December 5.

The summer edition followed its usual 10k route, starting at the Church House pub.

Further stops were St Dunstan’s Inn in Langley, the Leather Smithy, Hanging Gate Inn, the Ryles Arms, Sutton Ex Servicemen’s Club, Sutton Hall and Ye Olde King’s Head in Gurnett.

Sean and Kristen Lucey have run the Church House for more than two years.

Kristen said: “Every pub helps with the organisation and it’s a great community effort.

“I organise ticket sales and breakfast. It cost £11 to enter and that covers costs and a charitable donation.

Each pub does their bit which suits them, with music and live bands.

“Walkers reach the King’s Head from mid-afternoon. It depends how many drinks they’ve had and how quickly they walk.
“People have as many drinks, and stay as long as they want, in each pub.

“They usually pace themselves, with a half a pint at each stop and the diehards end at the Kings for a few hours.”

Around 40 walkers took part in the longer Langley 11 last month, though three pubs – the Stanley Arms, Wild Boar Inn and Crag Inn – are now closed.

Kristen said: “The Sutton 8 is getting a bit of a name for itself. We had people staying in motor homes in our car park from Staffordshire, Liverpool and Scotland.

“The scenery here is breathtaking. The walk goes through beautiful countryside skirting Macclesfield Forest.

“On a nice sunny day, it’s glorious. The hike started about 10 years ago and has ramped up to quite significant numbers.
“I’m close friends with the five girls from What Women Want who work tirelessly for the Hospice.

“We love the way they work and their energy. It’s great to contribute to their cause.

“The Sutton 8 isn’t a race. You’re there to have a good time, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a few drinks with friends.”

A huge THANK YOU to Langley Cricket Club for hosting another fantastic community event! 🏏❤️

We had such a brilliant day — the weather might not have played ball ☔️😂 but it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits!

And a massive thank you to our Church House team who did us proud! 🏏🍻 No trophy for us this year, but they played brilliantly, gave it their all and most importantly had a great time! We’re very proud of you all! ❤️

Great people, great atmosphere and another lovely example of our local community coming together.

Thanks to everyone involved in organising it — we had a ball! 🥰🍻
