More of today’s sound check

Soundcheck done this afternoon and everything’s sounding fantastic! 🔊

We can’t wait for tomorrow’s Chris Bant Old Skool Sessions at Proper Sound!

One of the things we love most is bringing local talent together and seeing artists perform in their hometown.

We’re especially excited for the live PA from Melanie Williams and George Wrong. There’s something special about seeing homegrown talent on home turf!

What a night we’ve got lined up!

See you tomorrow

A little piece of music history has found its place at Proper Sound 🖤

Our collection of Martin O’Neill’s original Joy Division photographs is now framed and on display, and we think they look fantastic!

Taken on 14 March 1979 at Bowdon Vale Youth Club, these incredible images capture the band in their early days, when Martin was just 18 years old.

It was a real pleasure meeting Martin when he personally dropped the prints off and hearing his stories from that night. It makes displaying his work here in Macclesfield even more special.

All the prints are signed by Martin and available to buy, with both framed and unframed options.

Pop in and have a look. They really deserve to be seen up close.

BEHIND THE BREW ☕

A celebration of the people and independent businesses that make Macclesfield what it is.

We’re pleased to be part of this photography exhibition by Rolph & Co, sharing the faces and stories behind some of our town’s independents.

I’ve always been a bit of a faceless person behind Proper Sound, preferring to let the business do the talking. So getting me in front of a camera was quite an achievement! 🤣

Pop along, have a look and show some love for our local independents.

A lovely visit to Proper Sound today from photographer Martin O’Neill, who dropped off a selection of his original Joy Division prints for us.

Martin was just 18 when he photographed Joy Division at Bowdon Vale Youth Club on 14 March 1979, capturing some incredible images of the band at such an early point in their history.

It was really lovely to meet him and hear some of the stories behind the photographs, from starting out in the crowd to eventually ending up on stage photographing the band up close. It makes having the prints here feel that little bit more special.

We’ve got a selection of signed A4 and A3+ prints which will be framed and on display at Proper Sound very soon, and available to buy.

A little piece of Joy Division history in Macclesfield.
