What does it take to change your mind? For Frank Cornelissen, it has meant questioning the conventions of winemaking as well as his own beliefs.

After moving from Belgium to Etna in 2001, Cornelissen went from making just 1,200 bottles a year to leading a team producing 180,000. Along the way, his approach to natural wine, sulphur and viticulture has evolved considerably.

In a recent interview for The Back Label Cornelissen reflects on Etna, experimentation, failure and why changing your mind might be one of the most important parts of becoming a better winemaker.

Two sommeliers and an impressive number of ways to describe what’s in the glass. 🍷

Suzi, Senior Sommelier now based in Bordeaux and Kirsty, now Assistant Head Sommelier in London, taste the 2017 Clos Vougeot from Domaine d'Eugénie, comparing notes on everything from redcurrants and cherry blossom to cinnamon, clove, mushroom and Japanese dashi.

Because while we might all agree on the structure, acidity and balance, the language we use to get there can often be subjective.

The Global Wine Communicator Awards shortlist is in. 🍾

After a record-breaking year of 677 entries from 26 countries, our judges have selected 24 outstanding wine communicators from eight countries as finalists across six categories.

As Chair of Judges Elain Chukan Brown comments: 'We've had excellent entries all three years, but this year there were also simply more of them. The judges had much harder work as a result.'

Congratulations to all our finalists. We look forward to celebrating with you at the Global Wine Communicator Awards ceremony in London on 9th September, where this year's winners will be revealed.
