Winemaker visit! On Sunday we’re joined by Ignasi Segui of Vinyes Singulars and the importer Steve! Ignasi and his family farm 120 hectares of land in Penedès, just on the south side of Barcelona. 40 hectares is used for vines whilst they also grow cereal crops, olive trees and vegetables on the rest. Ignasi’s farm has been in the family for generations, and they combine both a beloved heritage with innovation. Farms of this size, that are working without chemical additions are proof that this way of farming is possible on big scales, something we love to see. Really excited to welcome them both and offer a chance for you to taste and talk. Sunday from 2pm – walk ins only.

No chef for this one, but snacks will be provided by Furanxo. Furanxo is a shop in Dalston & Exmouth Market specialising in artisan wine, charcuterie, unpasteurised cheeses, tinned fished and Jamon which they import from independent Spanish farmers. Prior to Furanxo opening in Dalston in 2016, they existed as Santos & Santos - a stall on Broadway Market. Manuel wanted more Londoners to discover the artisan foods of Andalucia’s traditional ultramarinos shops or abacerias. In 2021, they opened their second shop in Exmouth Market. Check them out!

We changed the set up with the last winemaker visit which made it so much better; all the wines will be available to taste for free, and we’ll have Ignasi’s full range of nine wines available to drink by the bottle, with a selection available by the glass. ☀️ 🍷

it has been an immense pleasure to be around you at the beginning of this next chapter. You’ve spent the last three weeks being committed, kind and driven towards serving some the most delicious food coming off these inductions in a long time. Delicious not just in its flavour, but in its context and intent. Seeing you plan, prep and serve your food has been a privilege 💫

The Sun has come out for this final day, a little street party looks like it’s on the cards, so come down and celebrate this incredible human! 💙

Big love from us all

Big one coming!

It’s difficult to put into words how influential the three have been over the last 25 years both for me personally, and for the food and drink industry; Eric started to source and import wine that represented their terroir to the UK in 1988 from the back of his van, Ed & Eric have opened numerous restaurants together since then, and together with his partner Anna, in 2005 Eric moved to Sicily to start Vino di Anna which has produced some of my all-time favourite wines - wines I find myself going back to day after day, year after year and siting them as a bench mark for what wine should be. I was introduced to such a massive number of wines while working for Ed , many of which are on the shelves at 107 and will be for as long as the doors are open. It’s through Ed and the Brawn team that I learned to appreciate the importance of wines that are living & expressive, not muted by chemicals. You will find this life in every single bottle of wine you drink from Vino di Anna. Based on the North-East side of Mount Etna, Vino di Anna sits at around 1,000 meters, the soils are black and dark grey basalt, sometimes sandy, often rocky. They have been formed over hundreds of years from different lava flows and are rich in minerals, resulting in wines with high acidity, taut structure and sapid, mineral notes. They range from simple, refreshing skin contact wines to elegant, contemplative wines from 120yr old, terraced vineyards and the arrival of the 2023 vintage has been eagerly anticipated following a visit last October.

On the day, a big selection of the wines will be available to taste for free, with Eric & Anna here to discuss and answer questions about their vineyard and their wines, and then we’ll have a few of their top wines available by the bottle on a dedicated wine list. Ed will serve a special Sicilian food menu from 1pm until about 6pm or until it’s all gone with a good portion of the ingredients coming from the area surrounding Vino di Anna. Bring your friends, your family or just yourself, either way I can’t wait to share the wines and food from some incredibly talented people! One not to miss!

Next Resident Chef alert - 💫

We are so excited for the next three weeks! Sertaç is taking over the hobs and hosting a celebration of food from his Turkish upbringing, with family recipes and old traditions at the heart of each dish on his menu but with playful spins using the best seasonal produce. It’s been a pleasure to hear him talk about these dishes while putting the menus together as close attention is paid to tradition, while there’s an unwavering commitment to using some of the best growers in the country for the produce. We became friends while eating at P.Franco back in 2018, and the thought of being back in this space, cooking, drinking and sharing was something that we always had in mind. Sertaç is now combining his years of experience overseas, his love for Turkish cooking and a dining experience meant for sharing. We are looking forward to hosting all of you these coming weeks. Expect Çiğ köfte with oak leaf, Pea and Cucumber Tarator, Lamb Lokma with smoked eel, plates of Turkish bread and rakı begin generously shared around the room.

Sertaç, the pleasure is ours.

Come with all your friends but remember, while we’ll do our best to get everyone fed and watered, we’re only a small bar and space is limited.

Thursday – Saturday from 5pm
Sunday from 2pm

Let’s eat, let’s drink and let’s have a laugh 💙

Winemaker visit! If you’re have a spare hour on Saturday, come down from 4pm (Emilie will arrive at 4pm, wines will be open from 2) as we’re joined by Emelie Mutombo and the full range of her 2022 vintage, along with the one and only of . Theres a really exciting wave of farmers and winemakers all the the Pyrenees; both the Atlantic and Mediterranean side, the French and the Spanish, and we’re excited to hear more about it on Saturday! Pop in for a quick glass, or settle in for a bottle or two, it’s going to be a lovely day for these wines! ☀️ (let’s be realistic… ⛅️)

Emilie is another winemaker we were introduced to recently by Tom and Fran with the 2021 vintage, and someone who we’re set to follow the journey of as her project grows. Saturday is a chance to meet Emelie and talk with her about her path to where she is now; a small cellar 30km up the coast from Tarragona, Penedes and 5km inland in the village of Bonastre. It’s a journey that has taken her from her home country Belgium to South Africa & the south of France gaining experience in commercial wineries, but in 2019 she settled in Bonastre after several incredibly influential years working with the pioneer winemakers Massmimo Marchiori & Antonella Gerona of Partida Creuz. Her project consists of her own vines around the house in Bonastre and bought fruit from local growers, with all the wines vinified in the cellar under her house. Soil types and grape varieties vary, but her commitment to making wines with no additions never does. As with any farmer or winemaker who works with different plots, the freedom of expression increases and as a result the wines have provided huge excitement and enjoyment both this year and last. Cannot wait to welcome Emilie to London for the first time and get to know more about her approach. See you on Saturday!

The Real Wine Fair this weekend!! which for anyone (on trade or not) who wants to meet winemakers, taste literally thousands of wines and hear insightful discussions by some of the industries best, is definitely worth getting down to! Hosted by Les Caves des Pyrene at the To***co Docks here in London, it has never failed to act as an cornerstone in the year, as we get a chance to discuss wines we’ve been selling and pouring at the shop with the maker and hear about how they farm their land in detail. are responsible for importing some of the most pioneering winemakings to the UK, and have been doing so since 2005. It’s a pleasure working together and thank you for hosting this huge event! Tickets available through a link in Les Caves’ profile.

We’ll be open here as an answer to the “where do we go now?”question that inevitably follows on from the late lunch at Lahore curry house both Sunday and Monday - hope to see you there, and here! 🍷
