It’s hard to say which came first - Alan’s passion for Balboa or his excitement for up-tempo swing jazz sound. While staying true to the 1930s and 40s jazz feel à la Fletcher Henderson, Count Basie and Lionel Hampton, Alan likes to experiment with later jazz sounds that maintain the propulsive four-to-the-bar drive. Expect traditional swing and big band classics, spiced up with early R&B, jump blues, a touch of Latin rhythm and some slower tunes to catch your breath with a bit of Slow Balboa.

Despite the commute from Cambridge, Alan is a beloved regular on the Another Night dance floor. We can’t wait to hear the tunes he has in store for us in October!
