Before we get there, Spurs host Everton on Saturday and Arsenal take their perfect start to Sunderland for the late one.

Sunday gives us Coventry v Brighton before United and City get reacquainted at Old Trafford.

City: three games, three wins.

United: one win, one draw, one defeat.

Form famously means absolutely everything in a derby, so we can probably call this one now.

Then Leeds v Newcastle rounds things off on Monday night.

After Saturday’s 3–2 comeback at Fulham finally got the Eagles off the mark, it’s Middlesbrough under the lights on Tuesday and a place in the next round of the League Cup up for grabs.

If you’re heading to Selhurst, you know where the pre-match pint is. If you’re not, we’ll have the game on here, alongside Villa in Bruges and Real Madrid v Inter.

Right then. Proper football’s back.

Arsenal start their title defence tonight, Hull’s reward for promotion is Man United turning up on Saturday, and Spurs make the short trip to Brentford later that afternoon.

Sunday brings Brighton v Villa before Newcastle and Liverpool take over, then there’s one last bit of business on Monday: Fulham v Chelsea, a West London derby and Xabi Alonso’s first Premier League game in charge of the Blues.

Six games. Four days. Lovely stuff.
