Today in 1976, the Pop Rivets played live for the first time. Today in 1997, they played for the last time. Billy decided to get the Pop Rivets back together for the anniversary and of course PJ & the Professor were happy to go along with the idea.

I’ve been receiving a little of dodgy “notifications” on this page. Scams to trick me into letting someone else hijack the page. You’d think that they’d pick someone bigger, eh? Anyone, everyone be careful online and keep your wits about you. There’s a lot of nefarious notifications going on.

Twenty years ago today: Black Lips and King Kahn & the Shrines.

Went to see the Black Lips a couple times a couple months ago. Was gonna write one of them academic type papers about it, call it "The Windmill vs. The Dirty Water Club: A Comparative Study of the Black Lips." 5 June 2009, the second timeeeI had Frank Sidebottom at The Boston in the support slot for Billy Childish.

Chris Sievey was a big Childish fan, since the Milkshakes days so we had to talk Billy into having Frank play. Billy liked the idea so we did it. Twice.

I think it divided opinion in the room but what the hell. It had to be done.

Chris/Frank was so happy to be on the same stage as Childish. Not just once, but twice.

He died a little over a year later. But we were glad we were able to have made him happy like this because Chris was an absolutely lovely bloke.

Twenty years ago today, 4 June 2004, the Professor & PJ put on the first London gig by The 5678s since Kill Bill came out.

Support acts were The Priscillas & The Schla La Las.

It sold out quickly and on the morning of the gig PJ spoke to them & learned that they were free the next day.

So he talked to the other bands and after BBC Radio London announced it and he emailed the DEC mailing list, the second day sold out with 24 hours notice.
