The Sekforde pub in Clerkenwell is looking for Assistant Manager to join our team.
The Sekforde is located in the heart of Clerkenwell, between Farringdon and Angel. It was reopened under new ownership in 2017 after 2 years of restoration work and has been growing in popularity ever since. It was placed as the 7th best pub in London by the Evening Standard and the Sunday roast won the third best in London. It has won awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) for its renovation and sustainable design.
We are an independent and expanding company. The owner lives above the pub and has recently opened a restaurant nearby. We have plans to expand the business further, so we hope to find a candidate who is looking to grow within the business and learn new skills. The mission statement of the pub is to make the world a better place, which is why all the profits from the group are put into a Scholarship programme for gifted students.
The Assistant manager will be involved heavily in most aspects of the business. First and foremost they will be in charge of the team when they are on site, leading by example, motivating and training their team, maintaining high service standards and keeping the bar looking pristine. They will also be involved with the administration which involves stock management, invoicing and reservations.
The pub has thrived on being welcoming and friendly towards its customers, most of our customers visit the pub regularly, so it is important our assistant manager is a people person who can build relationships easily.
The staff get tips throughout the week which is split evenly amongst the team. On top of your wages you will also get holiday pay. We very much want to look after the staff while they are here, with a positive working environment and regular staff days out. For the longest serving employees we are also able to offer live in accommodation in a flat right next to the pub.
