Dave & Boo 17th April

With regular appearances at festivals and folk clubs, Dave Ellis & Boo Howard are now an integral part of the British acoustic folk scene and firm favourites with audiences up and down the land.

“Dave Ellis and Boo Howard simply exude class. With Boo’s wonderful voice and Dave’s stunning song writing and guitar playing, they are always
classy, imaginative and engaging...a lot of superlatives, but they are that good.”
(Chesham FC)

“Dave and Boo cover the full range of emotions in their songs, from the quirky and funny to the ethereal and deeply moving. A perfectly balanced sound that works in every corner of their fantastically varied repertoire.”
(The Ram Club)

Sweet Thames

Tamesas at the Colindale Barnet Folk Club - Friday 20th February

Tamesas are a female folk trio singing traditional songs with bodhran, fiddle and flute. Their name comes from the Brythonic Celtic word for the Thames. "Tamesas draw deeply from their cultural heritage of Orkney, Ireland, Wales and the West Country adding wide-ranging musical influences such as Blue Grass and Scandinavian folk to share rich folk narratives of London life, the Thames and travels far beyond. Performing an eclectic mix of songs and tunes the arrangements move between gentle, intimate tales of the sea to poignant and powerful stories of women’s lives."

Examples of their musicality can be found here - https://soundcloud.com/aimee-leonard-105025

The Colindale Folk Club came into existence in 2014 because Em and Are Kolltveit, the then new landlords of the Chandos Arms pub in Colindale, wanted to run a pub with regular music. In 2023 they moved on and Em now runs the Anglican parish of St Jude on the Hill. It has a hall where they hold a variety of musical events, this one is folk so I was happy to share and will probably go myself.

Enchanting Spells
============
The Kimberleys at the Colindale Barnet Folk Club - Friday 16th January 2026

Isobel & Jim Kimberley are a multi-instrumentalist duo who weave an enchanting spell with the way they perform old folk songs. "Their repertoire is drawn from traditional folk songs of the British Isles. Their honest arrangements, exceptional musicianship and glorious familial harmonies combine to make an impact much greater than their two piece line up." You can find out more and hear them perform on their website https://www.thekimberleys.org.

Great video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z9-mmUBSrw - an animated version of the old, mysterious folk song Tam Lin.
