FUSS at Hither Green

FUSS at Hither Green FUSS, stands for Friends and Users of Staplehurst Shops. Since FUSS was set up in 2005, the road has become brighter and more friendly.

It’s local group of like-minded people who get together every month to discuss topics effecting Hither Green. FUSS main objective is to look after the well-being off Staplehurst Road and help build a community within it. We orgainise a range of things from clean-up days around the road and railway, which we sometimes combine forces with HGCA (Hither Green Community Association) which operates on t

he other side of Hither Green railway station. We also enter the London in Bloom competition every year and in spring we have a day where the plantings of bulbs and shrubs along Staplehurst Road takes place. Other events that FUSS organises also includes the annual Christmas Fair, which usually takes place on the first weekend in December. It’s a wonderful event that brings the whole off Staplehurst Road alive. The Christmas tree lights are turned on, there are carol singers, brass band music, raffle prizes, mulled wine & mince pies and of cause Father Christmas himself! It has some great little stalls as well, selling a whole range of things from crafts, gifts, food to Bric-Brac. The stalls are hosted by local business’, craft people to local people selling their homemade produce and gifts. If you are interested in having a stall at this years Christmas Fair please get in contact (There will be ‘Stall Forms’ in the local shops nearer the time). FUSS is a local community group, so if you ever feel like popping by to one of our monthly meetings, please do. Opinions, thoughts and your ideas are all welcome. Since the council’s funding cuts, we would be even more grateful for any help & skills you can offer. Even if it’s just 30minutes of your time, it all makes a difference.
