💔 The hardest post we at DC have ever had to write…
How does the saying go? It ain’t over till it ends at Dover…
Well, sadly, it’s nearly over at The Dover.
After 17 incredible years, our time at The Dover Castle is coming to an end. Our lease finishes in early October and we’ll be closing our doors.
When we started 17 years ago, we could never have imagined what this place would become.
It stopped being just a student bar a long time ago. It became a place where people met their best friends, relationships started, students celebrated graduating and old friends returned years later like they’d never been away.
Thousands upon thousands of people have walked through those doors. Some came for one night, some became regulars and some practically grew up here. So many became part of the Dover family. ❤️
To the incredible staff we’ve been lucky enough to have over the years — thank you.
To all the King’s/GKT and South Bank sports teams who made Dover their home — thank you for the memories. ❤️
To our regulars — you know who you are. Thank you for the great times, the late drinks and those random Tuesday nights that somehow ended at 2am. 😂
And Joe and his legendary team of bouncers — I remember Joe’s first day and Dover simply wouldn’t have become what it did without him. ❤️
We also have to remember Gerry Boyle, who sadly passed away a few years ago and was adored by staff and customers alike. RIP Gerry. ❤️
There are people reading this who first came through our doors at 18 and are now in their 30s. That blows our minds.
But it’s not over yet.
We’ve still got a few weeks left, so come back. Bring your mates. Bring the people you used to come here with. Have a couple more nights and make one more memory.
17 years is a hell of a run. ❤️
Saying goodbye is going to be bloody hard.
But before we close those doors for the final time…
