for some time now i have been trying to find the last of the leather that remained when spire closed down. spire was the tannery that opened up in chesterfield derbyshire when clayton’s closed on the same site. for the exhibition three event i went back up to derbyshire to a barn that i was told had a small stock remaining of horse leather, in crust stage. for our collaboration i will be using some of what i found, re finished and dyed at one of the few remaining curriers left here in england
