As part of we’re shouting out to some of the incredible indie publishers that make our job of curation so much easier. First up, Fitzcarraldo Editions

I have to admit to being quite intimidated by Fitzcarraldo in my previous life as a reader (as opposed to bookseller). But some of my favourite reads EVER have been hidden inside those iconic royal blue covers, and so I beg you, if you’ve yet to pick up one, then let this be the sign to start now.

Slide 2️⃣ white for non-fic, both for poetry
3️⃣ tickets still available for newly acquired Fitz author Keith Ridgway in convo with .pester (a night of surrealism in your fave indie bookshop 😉)
4️⃣ way back at ‘s first ever Debuts Night with poet Oluwaseun Samuel Olayiwola … reminder, our 16th debuts night is tomorrow with 6 brand new authors for you to get into bed with.

It’s Independent Bookshop Week, the week when we all shout about the importance of indie bookshops, about community, the revitalisation of the High Street, and you - the people that make it worth it and keep us going.

To be honest, every week for me is . Every week we send the message to buy from bookshops not billionaires. And every week you support that - so THANK YOU.

And to say thank you properly, we want to share one of our fave parts of being indie booksellers - the books. We get so many proofs and advance reading copies here and so, tag us in a post or story with a pic of your favourite or current read and include the hashtag and we’ll pop you in a prize draw to rummage through our stack of proofs and take home some new reads for FREE!

The world is a strange place.
But sometimes you just have to embrace the strangeness and go with it.

Need some help? Join Ben Pester and Keith Ridgway for a night embracing the surreal, the strange and the absurd.

In ‘Dooneen’ we discover a Dublin that is alive with song, with rumour, with ghosts, and with an unmistakable sense of insurgency. Allusive and wildly original, Keith Ridgway continues to prove himself as ‘one of Ireland’s best writers, in a country with no shortage of them’ (The Times).

For Ben Pester, ‘Sail Away Land’ is the space where we might go when we’re no longer alive (sometimes only temporarily). In this uncommon and disarming collection, the characters go ‘there’ with or without knowing it. These stories are about normal things - losing the people we’re closest to, forgiving them, finding love and managing to hold onto it - but also about going to parties through a door in the back of a colleague’s head, housebreaking in search of a sister’s ghost, and asking the strangers in the kitchen to resurrect you at midnight.

Led in conversation by the one and only , tickets on sale now. Grab them before they vanish.

Tomorrow night.

Pulitzer Prize Finalist 2026 .n.alyan talking about her memoir ‘I’ll Tell You When I’m Home’

At first, Hala’s baby is the size of a poppyseed. Then a grain of rice, then a lime. After years of trying for a baby, Hala watches from afar as her daughter grows in the body of another woman, in another country.

Stunningly lyrical and unflinchingly honest, ‘I’ll Tell You When I’m Home’ is a powerful story of unravelling and becoming, of homelands lost and reimagined, and of the intimate ways we learn to make a life when the ground beneath us shifts.
