This week’s pick comes from our very own DJ Dan who’s chosen an album that helped define British guitar music: Oasis – Definitely Maybe.
Released in August 1994, Oasis’ debut album introduced the world to tracks including Rock ‘n’ Roll Star, Live Forever, Supersonic and Ci******es & Alcohol. More than three decades later, its influence on British indie and rock music is undeniable.
But for Dan, this record is much more than a classic:
“Definitely Maybe is the most important debut album of all time. It defined the sound of a generation and has continued to inspire every generation since. More than 30 years later, it feels every bit as important and influential as it did in 1994.
For me, it was my musical awakening. It was my gateway into indie music and from Oasis I discovered so many other legendary bands.
From the opening chords, it’s pure rock ’n’ roll, with every track an anthem. I can’t wait to hear some of those songs live again next year.”
