Now this was a fun pair of wines over dinner the other night . 1996 herb lamb with plenty of life left. It was so good, too bad it was my last bottle. Double decanted 2 hours previously, still needing a decanter over dinner. 1993 Howell mountain was just as good. Typically old Dunn wines take for ever to come around but with 3 hours of air it was singing. Love this era of Napa wines. Reasonable alcohol levels, rustic notes, making the wines fun as they breath, open up, twisting and turning on the nose and palate over the night. Too much chasing perfect wines these days. Leads to lots of alcohol seamless wines with no quirkiness. Is that what we really want?
